A cynic might look at swapping Colo, Simpson and Ba for Mbiwa, Debuchy and Gouffran as one like for like, one improvement and one slight disappointment.

Haidara is simply the additional fullback that allows Raylor back to cover RB. I still think we are two short, so I'm really hoping that the rumour surrounding Sissoko is true and that Aubameyang is also on his way.

I actually did think be same, but still holding out hope on Colo playing for the rest of the season. Sissoko interest seems to have gone quiet, but fingers crossed.

I know, though I'm chuffed to bits we're getting Mbiwa and think £2m or so for Gouffran is a steal, it's still got small whiffs of smokescreen.

Just feel we're getting a little carried away - not one of our new players has played Premier League football yet, let alone the 'football' served up by Pardew of late. We don't know for sure that Colo is staying - far from it. Simpson's two month injury really pushes him right to the edge of things anyway, so Debuchy was desperately needed. Even with everyone on board, we have no-one that I can see to score the goals we need. And with such a small and unpredictable midfield, this Sissoko looks pretty important too. I'll be happy if we get the 4 who seem certain + keep Colo. Happier with 4 + Sissoko. That's a minimum of what we need. I would still feel an awful lot better with a new striker and we may still need to replace Colo. But how? His sale price is £0....

Carroll's gone very quiet...
