http://www.nufcblog.com/2013/01/19/newcastle-go-after-bordeux-striker/?

Newcastle United are being linked today with Bordeaux forward Yoan Gouffran, who can play on the wing or as an out-and-out striker, and he has played 22 times for the France U21 side, but has never been capped at the full International level.

Yoan stands 5’10″ tall and has something we don’t have much of in the Newcastle side at the moment - speed – and he can put the ball home with either foot. He’s 26 and one of the strange things about the player is that he’s allergic to grass – of all things.

And with the shocking news earlier in the week that Newcastle may be after David Ngog of Bolton, certainly Gouffran would offer much more than the former Liverpool striker, who’s always found it difficult to score goals.

In the last couple of seasons Gouffran has shown some decent goal-scoring form art Bordeaux, and in 63 appearances for the French club in that period, he has 26 goals including 12 goals in his 26 appearances this season.

Gouffran began his career with Caen before joining Bordeaux in 2008, and he has done well at Bordeaux, and by our records he’s played around 178 times with 40 goals for Bordeaux.

It would be good to get somebody in who has both speed and movement, something that Loic Remy had – but of course we missed out on him. (Note to myself – stop talking about this guy).

Gouffran could be a decent signing for Newcastle in January, and then we could go after a top striker in the summer, when more will be available.

Allergic to grass? Hope we don't show him the weeds he'd have to work with...

Another midget... Excellent. If there's one thing our one dimensional strategy needs, it's another tiny player!

Well if it was true then it's stuffed up now that it's been reported.

Cue 'Arry & Arsene making phone calls...

Another Obertan-esque headless chicken? Small players doesn't mean they'll be bad, its how they play. Look at Sammy for example, he's a giant, but he's ****e.

But in any case, its still only rumours flying everywhere as per the normal Jan window.
Next when it closes with us not bringing anybody in they'll say we tried but the numbers didn't match blah blah
And then they'll say if we stay up we'll invest.
Look what happened to that "investment" this past summer with only Anita in and Best Guthrie etc out.
Don't kid ourselves, we've a horrible board.

I'd take him. I've watched him a few times for Bordeaux and he's pretty good. How he'd go over here is another quesiton altogether but beggars can't be choosers. And in this moment, we are beggars!

Newcastle want Bordeaux striker Yoan Gouffran. Magpies have offered €750,000, insufficient for #Bdx. Gouffran contract expires in June #NUFC

750k? He been scoring 1 in 2 this season. Even though he only has 6mths contract left it seems a bit derisory...

Also thought this guy was on big wages, that being another reason his club want to offload. They may sell him for a "sensible" price, but l don't think he would be overly impressed by the likely wages he would be offered.
Still you never know, it's so crazy at the moment, anything could happen!

750K LOL?! If we get the transfer through, at a low fee like below a 2 million or 3 million it'll be a genuine coup. If it doesn't Ashley and Co. really are an embarassment to NUFC.

Pardew said were aggressive but don't offer silly money - €750k is silly money for a player of his calibre...another one not going over the line I reckon...

We are like the Big Lebowski of PL transfer business........................

We've nearly signed half the French national team/B team now.

End of window. No deals.

Pardew gets rolled out to explain Derek and Mikes fine mess:

"Well Mike had deals in place for Moussa Sissoko, Yoan Gourcuff, Loic Remy, Mbiwa, Yann M'Vila, Siem de Jong, Haidara and even bid monster money for Cristiano Ronaldo. We just couldn't get any of them over the line. We'll try again in June. Honest guv."

I'd like to see where this line is.
I'm sure it will be somewhere at the end of the rainbow being minded by the tooth fairy.
You can only tell a lie so much before it is bullshit.

You forgot, the part where he mentioned having Raylor, HBA, Saylor back they'll be like new signings.

Various sources claiming Newcastle have had a €750,000 offer for Yann #Gouffran rejected. Want €1m, contract ends in 6mths.

??? Trying to cheapskate over 250k euros?!!

Surely this guy is worth more than 750k, if we are serious about this, why have we not offered a sensible price.
Rumor has it that he has been offered to Arsenal as a loan deal, so maybe a more realistic offer to buy him would swing it in our favour ?
Just seems we are mucking about with this. Pardew said we were being aggressive, but this is not the sort of aggressive l was hoping for.
