In Venezuela though there was a sitting government he could try to work with, and if that failed there was an opposition leader who is widely believed to have won the last election but lost out to state sponsored electoral fraud (allegedly).I agree that’s exactly what he’s doing. In both cases though it is autocratic regimes. I think the majority of Venezuelans and Iranians are happy with his actions. As he said though, the right person or persons need to be in charge for change to happen. If they aren’t then a whole can of worms gets opened which will infect the world for decades to come.
There's just no one waiting in the wings in Iran. I would love to see the back of the current regime but without a plan for what happens after we're in danger of creating another Libya or Iraq.
