So do you condemn him starting this huge illegal risky war?
This should of happened decades ago. Iran has been a risk to the whole M E since the revolution. You get the same cr*p all the time off people sticking up for them though. They use their proxies to do the dirty work and say not us gov, even though they financed them, trained them and supplied all the weapons. You just have to look now NOT ONE M E country has backed them just the usual Russia and China.

Not a particularly good start for Trump, couple of days into the war and they are blowing their own planes out of the sky.

Sad to see that we've caved in and let him use our air bases. Defensive maneouvres or not, it serves only to drag us into something that we don't need to be involved in.

We will never learn.

They're not our air bases, they're American ...

... just as we have RAF air bases in Cyprus, Gibraltar, etc.

are there any wars that are legal and non risky? For the record I don't like it, but that wont make any difference. I despise war, I'm a pacifist and there are too many megalomaniacs all wanting to outdo each other. Megalomaniacs living the anchor leg of life's relay by the way, similar to me as it happens. The only difference is that they don't give a **** as they've lived their rich little lives. But when the **** hits the fan they can scurry off to their reinforced shelters whereas I will have to take my chance alongside the rest of the mere mortals.
I also don't like the idea of we have nuclear weapons but they aren't allowed any. This is Trump's Thatcher moment but on a much larger scale. Mainly because he has a lot more to hide than her. UK will always be dragged into something, even the Russians blame us for Ukraine, at the moment we are just sitting in the backseat, doing very little and being driven by others and guilty by association.

Understand that Smug. He’s needed to get our buy into use the bases though otherwise he wouldn’t have sought permission.

I’d not seen Starmer’s comments about not agreeing with the regime change from the skies when I posted earlier. Those comments are to his credit.

I've tried to imagine how I'd be feeling if Boris Johnson, Truss, Farage, etc were currently PM ...

... on reflection I'm not sure Starmer is doing so badly tbh.

I'm a long way from convinced about him but I'm not currently against him.

Ah mate, Starmer undoubtedly has his faults as do we all but the others you’ve listed are amongst the very worst of the political spectrum in the history of this country.

There are some that the UN judge as a fair intervention. We know what Trump things of international consensus. On the rest of your post, its depressing isn’t it. Oil and wealth have killed a lot of people.,

I think they've developed some good policies in the midst of chaos created by largely three world leaders. I like the Pride in Place policy, the youth policy, safer streets makes sense, the 10 year health plan, the childrens wellbeing bill and educatonall enrichment all good. Starmers done well internationally with one huge exception.
They've also done some really dumb things like backing genocidal Israel so firmly with arms, ID cards and arresting multitudes of retired vicars at peaceful protests.
Personally i can’t excuse him for his island of strangers speech which fed a dangerous narrative- nor the Burnham decision. I didn't like the vicious campaign in gorton and denton either. I have more hope for him without McSweeney as he might have a wider tolerance to opinions, time will tell.

Perhaps I'm missing something but I'm slightly puzzled by some of the British people caught up in this war. Trump has been threatening Iran for months and building up an attack force. Yet people have been happily going out to places like Dubai and Kuwait which is between Israel and Iran ...

... so on the flight path for missiles, drones, jet fighters, etc.

Now they're posting video clips saying how unfair it all is and complaining they're not being kept informed.

There was a fella from Harrogate on the BBC, just now, saying 'No one wants their baby daughter to be involved in something like this.' He's on his honeymoon in Dubai, with his wife and daughter which I don't really understand tbh, it's 20 miles to Iran ... don't these people have Google Maps.

All of these Brits will be complaining soon that we should be sending planes to bring them home and that their insurance doesn't cover them ...

... yes that's because it's a war zone which has been imminent for months!

They may have decided to go based on government guidance, we have all seen whats happened in Cyprus over the last few days yet the government still dont warn against travelling there. As Trump has put it Starmer is still Pearl Clutching, the man is inept, your right that people should use some common sense but if your own government says its safe to travel surely thats a thumbs up.
Personally I wont be travelling anywhere near that part of the world.

Possibly the clearest case, ever, of a pot calling a kettle black there.

What is it you're most unhappy with regarding Starmer's current position btw?

RAF Fairford is American?

We let them use it, but it’s most certainly ours which is why the Yanks need our permission for any offensive strikes.
