Meanwhile, consider whether that trip to the USA is worth it. ICE running snatch squads, disappearing those with remain to leave and even British and German tourists. Given how painful getting paperwork right for US entry is, woe betide anyone who makes a mistake. You might end up in Gitmo

Shot herself in the foot I'm afraid. Backpacking on a tourist visa in US, Had been staying free with a host family in exchange for some chores & house work, then went to cross into Canada to do the same there. Canadian Border Staff questioned her about where she was staying then refused to admit her because she broke visa restrictions, sent her back to the US, where she got her US visa cancelled. No way for her to get home to the UK direct from the US/Canada border so she got handed over to Immigration enforcement for repatriation.

Considering she arranged the trip through Workaway she could hardly claim she didn't realise this meant she was going to be working for some reward.

Agree, but putin doesn't work like that... think the Ukraine has shot themselves in the foot..
Maybe not. However the biggest strategic error of the last decade has been the west talking ourselves out of action in fear of what Putin may do. It’s just put off the point where pushback happens - and made it more expensive when it does come.

Quite extraordinary that he’s still in place and nobody has ever tried to remove him to form a closer relationship with the west tbh. Either the Russians really like him or he’s the king of “fake news” :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Our politicians , governments , and system may be poor , but at least our poor decisions are agreed my multiple people after discussion.
USA seems to be whatever Trump thinks up next , implemented on the spot, and he calls others dictators ?
That's a big problem with what's happening. My admittedly limited knowledge of US law is that it is Congress that has the power to impose tariffs, it can't be done by presidential executive order. Obviously the Republicans in Congress are **** scared of Trump so won't kick up a fuss, but where are the Democrats?

I think history tells us they did but we were too busy celebrating victory and the end of the Cold War to answer, bread queues resulted while we partied, and the road to were we are today began.

Always interesting to look back on pivotal moments in history and think WTF were folk thinking. I have lived through a few I reckon where my kids are already say WTF and who knows what my grandkids might say when in their history lessons.

We made a huge cock up well before the invasion in saying that we wouldn't send our troops in.

Just what the fcuk message HMG thought that sent I don't know, but to me it pulled the rug out from under Ukraine.

I have to agree, difficult though it would've been to say that ... we either stand alongside Ukraine or we don't.

Europe would've immediately been put under pressure to follow suit.

Putin is a sick egotistical bully and shouldn't be accommodated. Sadly, as this war was starting we had to tolerate Boris Johnson smirking about how Putin threatened him, personally, with a missile strike. Weapons grade idiot.

"Or something like that"
... as if something like that wouldn't stick in your mind <doh>

Try to work out which is the waffling, old bluffer and which is Boris ....
