Ukraine making 'every effort' to end war on 'fair terms', Zelenskyy says
An interesting line from the Ukrainian president in the past few minutes...
In a statement released on social media, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said: "We are making every effort to end the war as soon as possible on fair Ukrainian terms and ensure a lasting peace."
It's a change in tone: Mr Zelenskyy has throughout the war insisted hostilities would not cease until Ukraine has pushed Russian forces from every inch of its territory - and that he would refuse any terms that would involve giving up Ukrainian land.
However, with the war set to enter its third year soon, and Western support beginning to dwindle, suggestions have been made by some analysts that Ukraine could head for the negotiating table and soften its stance.
It is unclear exactly what Mr Zelenskyy's statement means, although some reporters from Ukrainian outlets are suggesting it means a peace deal could be on the horizon.
