I'd guess they're mentally ill individuals who latch onto a cause that gives them some self worth.

The awful, unspoken truth is that much of this trouble, almost all of it, stems from the Muslim loathing of the Jews. It's not Israel they find offensive, its the Jews.
Likewise their useful idiots on the left here and elsewhere crowding in the streets. It's not about Israel they scream and chant, it's " Gas the Jews" or " Kill the Jews" or " Make the Jews pay". All shouted on the streets of this country whole police stood and ignored.
It's the oldest hatred, and the current and loudest perpetrators of it were taught their propaganda at the feet of Hitler. Hussein the Palestinian leader at the time was a celebrated ally of Hitler.
