i hope our aim is not promotion

surely any sensible decisions would be, aiming for promotion next

good season this, and strengthen more in the next few transfer windows.. but.. we might be 9th in the league come jan, acun will come and spend £15m probably..<laugh>:1980_boogie_down:

On loans fees! So there not even assets for next season <laugh>

Has the embargo been lifted? Or is it Acun spinning his usual crap?

As for this game, I see us putting out a backup team, with them doing similar, they get a penalty, score it, 1-0 to them!

Serious question, do we even care about the FA cup? I do, but does the owner etc?

If our sole aim is promotion (how likely that is, time will tell) and if money is no problem (it is), then surely this is another needless distraction and potential for injuries.
All a bit sad regarding the FA cup. Round three was always eagerly anticipated and usually drew a decent crowd.
Great replays against Blyth Spartans and the subsequent signing of Les Mutrie.

I’d be keeping Joseph up front.

We all know he’s going to be dropped for the weekend so give him this couple of games run to see what he can do.

Start Palmer behind him, rest Crooks. Change the CBs. Start Ndala and rest Kamara.

I'd expect a LOT of changes, no one really cares about this comp anyway do they?

Phillips

Drameh/Williams - Egan - Famewo - Giles/Williams

McCarthy - Gelhardt - Palmer

Tinsdale - McBurnie - Brown

Mins for new signings McBurnie and Gelhardt important, assuming Williams has signed to play either LB or RB and some more opportunities for Tinsdale and McCarthy. As someone mentioned on the Cov thread, interesting that Vaughan didn't even make the bench where McCarthy and Tinsdale had done, so expect those 2 to feature from the start as well as Brown, another opportunity for him to try and impress - one i'm not sure on is Destan - no idea if he's fit or not - would expect to see him get mins off the bench at the very least

As the highest crowd for a final since 2008 has been 89,000 and the lowest 81,000 it seems quite a lot care about. Maybe it is a Hull thing? We took a paltry 1,500 to Old Trafford for a semi-final but the season before Boro took 10,500 there for a quarter final.

Yep it's only a Hull thing. The FA Cup has famously maintained its magic everywhere except for Hull.

Was talking about the EFL Cup. But the interest in Hull for the FA Cup isn’t what it was either. Mind you, they don’t seem that many tickets in Hull for rugby league cup semi finals and finals these days,

Not really, it's not what it once was, maybe hasn't been a big thing for 15-20 years now. For top half prem teams, it's a genuine chance of a trophy, from L1 down a chance of a glamour tie, a giant killing.....bit for championship teams and teams looking to avoid relegation it's a distraction you don't really need

Surely there is a difference between people prepared to attend for a cup final...vs a clubs appetite for trying to go as far as possible when they are an average championship outfit, and therefore could impact our league survival or promotion (too many games, injuries, fixture congestion, etc).

Edit: personally, id like us to have a go. On the chance we draw some random lower league team and go for the ground tick.

Play the kids...We ain't going to win the League Cup...Concentrate on the bread and butter...Oxford on Sunday at ours...

Pandur
Drameh
Williams
Egan
Famewo
Palmer
McCarthy
Tinsdale
Akintola
Gelhardt
McBurnie

Play a strong team and build more confidence. Minutes into the legs of Gelhardt, McBurnie and Akintola. Take them all off after 60mins.

I want a strong team and a convincing win to make up for an awful cup game against them (possibly 2004) and losing on penalties. All the away fans did all match was shout Wrexham repeatedly, fair play to them for turning up mid week but they still hated just the one chant all match
