So far I’m very impressed with England. You can only beat what’s in front of you. Better finishing in the first game would see us miles ahead on goals. We took our chances today and conserved energy second half which hopefully means better fitness for the end of the group stages. First time in 20 years I’ve actually cheered England scoring.

Anyone finding negatives has seriously got to be one of those boo boys we’ve had at SAFC fir years. How do you find negatives in a 6-1 win?

Well I did and I am not one of those boo boys you refer too, so your wrong yet again.

“Yet again”!!! your negatives are idiotic though “we would’ve lost the second half” rubbish. But we won the first half 5-0 so where’s the negative? His substitutions? You kit maybe think that he’s just saving players? What did he get wrong today? NOTHING!!

Won the game in the first half and played the second half in 2nd gear. The subs, for me, didn't really matter, some game time for some of those who would be 'more back up players.

One negative for me is Stirling; he's playing without the freedom that the rest of the starting eleven play with. I think we should drop him and play Rashford or Vardy against Belgium. Henderson was immense today, MoM for me

<laugh>.

Woeful second half mind. Switched off. Giving the ball away. No attacking intent. Really complacent.

Not a sign of a particularly mentally strong team.

Bollocks mate. We attacked first ten then Southgate quite rightly said hold the ball and save energy, and used subs unlikely to be first picks.

Very savvy management and not a minuscule reflection on the team. It was utterly deliberate to sit off and canter.

Some of the comments on here ****ing hell.

I bet they all come from go getters who nail life.

We won 6-1 and that was because we chose to step off. The substitutions were deliberate to give outsiders a game and save the main men.

****ing hell. 6-1 and negativity. This I why folk run away from the city of Sunderland.

Southgate must be a "boo boy" then because he still had some criticism for the performance

Dier or Henderson???

My heart says Henderson but my heart says Dier.
Our defence is dodgey and hes a CB by trade and does a much better job covering the back 3

Do they?

Because we'll avoid some of the bigger teams early on, giving us a chance to get further into the competition.
Yeh
The way it’s panning out.
I’ve looked at The possibilities
Maybe second place would be best ..??

Yeh before we kicked a ball I would have said Dier
I think now we are moving on nicely I think leave Henderson in the team.

Henderson has been one of our best players this tournament. We can't drop him.

I wouldn't drop him i just wouldn't play him in the holding role once the games step up. Feck knows who id drop for him but that's Gareths problem and a nice problem to have.
I rate Dier highly and i think he needs using alot more.

I think what’s clear is that Jordan has a great leadership quality about him.

He’s been made captain of Liverpool and he’s captained England for a reason.

I do like Dier but they are incredibly similar and it seems maybe that’s what gets Jordan the nod.
