Khazri hasn't changed much, moments of real class mixed with slipping on his arse at key moments and loose passing.

The bbc commentators said, after about 20 minutes, England were playing “the best football they’d seen at any point in this World Cup”

We were all right but nowhere near Spain or even Brazil at times!

Must have watched a different game to you lot.

We were superb first half. Things didn’t come off for sterling and lingaard but they were a constant threat.

We were as good as anyone but Spain so far and we will grow.

I said right at the start Kane will take us over the line and he did.

Is ****ing grim being a Sunderland and England fan sometimes, let’s look at what we failed at.

This wasn’t a **** team, Belgium laboured against a team of ****e, we could have scored 6-7 easily man, let’s all be English as **** and say we were the pits.

Jesus.

Sterling should never wear the England shirt again!

He's given away the ball every time he's had it!!

Said on a thread a while back that my only vision of Sterling’s England career is “ he’s lost the ball again”. As pointed out by bbc earlier though, he’s so different and often excellent for City

Didn't watch it because it started at an utterly hideous time but that's a decent result to start off. Kane getting two is encouraging. He'll need a big tournament for England to do well.

I don't get all this about Stirling, it's like he's been made the new scapegoat. That first half he was as good as anybody else on the pitch. His movement, dropping deep and linking up the play was fantastic.

On that first half performance and the way we fought back to the win the game, shows that we are a major player in this tournament and a force to be reckoned with.

We've just won our first match at the world cup with a decent performance and it's 'boring boring England' <doh>

Couldn’t agree more mate. Always available, always looking forward, always a threat.

People have read in the papers and decided he’s the target, absolute bullshit. He’s one of the 3 outstanding players we have.

Some daft ****s in the Akenside cheered when he was subbed, they were rapidly clamped by the majority.

The whole mentality of this country is to will people to fail and mock them for having the gaul to acknowledge their own strengths, and it’s a ****ing shame.

Go make something of your own world and breed positivity maybe? Envy is one of the seven, the lads a handful and hasn’t deserved a word of the bullshit.

He's not a bad player when he's on his feet but how much you appreciate him probably depends on your tolerance for diving and generally acting like a bit of a whiny bitch. It's not like people **** on Kane because he's English because people like the bloke.

And no I don't dislike him because of what it says about him in the papers, made my mind up about him from a long time ago from watching him play.

All that matters to be is will the lad make an impact, will he drive the team forward, would I look to him to make something happen.

Absolutely yes I would.
