It probaly says alot about the type of people defending him as even Chiellini has come to his defence.

Writing on his personal website, Chiellini, 29, said: "I have always considered unequivocal the disciplinary interventions by the competent bodies, but at the same time I believe that the proposed formula is excessive.
"Now inside me there's no feelings of joy, revenge or anger against Suarez for an incident that happened on the pitch and that's done. There only remains the anger and the disappointment about the match.
"At the moment my only thought is for Luis and his family, because they will face a very difficult period

Chiellini is a quality defender but I would put him down as one of the dirtiest players in the game. Then you have Maradona defending him (a saint). Fred who dived to win the penalty against Croatia. It seems the type of people defending Suarez are the type that don't view biting as that much of an issue because in some sort of manner they all appear to take part in some sort of dirty tactic.

They probably remember his performance in the last WC final. The amount of **** I took over here about the "Arbitro Ingles" being useless, was substantial!...
 
Now we can add Brazil fans booing the Chilean anthem to the long list of reasons it will be justified to see Messi lifting the trophy in their back yard. They really are as obnoxious as a certain player from that country they share a 1,068km border with...

The pressure on Neymar is immense.
He goes AWOL in the 2nd half and the Brasil attack nearly ground to a halt.
 
I thought that FIFA clamped down on stop-start runs for penalties like the one Neymar took? If so, why was it allowed to stand and not retaken?

No pressure, Columbia: knock out the second-most obnoxious team in South America tonight, then knock out the most-obnoxious in the quarter finals. Yes, Brazil piss me off far more than a team that has (or had...) a racist cannibal in their line-up.

I also thought keepers had to stay on the line. Julio Cesar was 5 feet off the line when the first pen was taken.
 
Brazil v Chile was a brilliant match...felt sorry for chile ... they almost won it in the last minute of extra time when they hit the cross bar.

Uruguay and Columbia is tedious but what a goal
 
Hopefully, it will be a better second half, as Uruguay have to score. I really could do without the adenoidally challenged Adrian ****ing Chiles droning in my ear at half time!....
 
Chile hit the bar once to get Brazil into pens, and again to send Brazil through. God hates Chile. Good first half, but chippy. Just chippy in the second half and extra time. Very even, Brazil had the edge in run of play, Chile may have had the better chances and showed more attacking quality. Chile's best team ever, beat the defending champions and couldn't have been closer to beating Brazil. MoM Medel, superb throughout. Willian missing the goal with his pen was very amusing. The difference may have been Brazil's far better bench.

10 pens, one well taken. I can't believe only 1 of ten zillionaire footballers can hit the top corner with a stationary ball. The keepers should never have moved. Most of the attempts were gutless wonder down the middle shots, and 2 of the others missed.

Go Colombia!

Way to go James! Got to say Uruguay look old and tired, as they've looked most of the tournament.
 
Damn, I almost pulled off a Worldie up there with Rodriguez's strike. Had Rodriguez and 3-0 at 60/1 and would've won £180 in total had it finished 3-0 but still finished £60 up cancels out my recent losses <party>
 
Pretty damn funny seeing James Rodriguez scupper Uruguay's plans twice - first ignoring obliterating their attempts to park the bus in the first half with even more style than Messi did against Iran, then making the half time team talk irrelevant early in the second half.

Their plan to catch Uruguay on the counter after that wasn't particularly effective, though, and mainly helped by both teams finding new ways to concede free kicks for twenty minutes.
 
Colombia was like watching the All Blacks at rugby.
As soon as they attacked, they ran the right "lines" hard and fast and
were back at the Uruguay box in moments. The Uruguay MF was more
or less non-existent in defending against this.

Brasil will be in for an even more torrid time next game.
 
Greece may be utterly boring and lucky to be in this round of the World Cup, following their ludicrous, late penalty winner, but their players deserve a lot of respect.
In stark contrast to Ghana's demands for their $3m bonus to be flown out in cash before the last game, the Greeks have turned down any payment.
They've written a letter to the country's Prime Minister asking for it to be donated towards facilities for the game, instead.

"We do not want extra bonus, or money. We only play for Greece and its people."
"All we want is for you to support our effort to find a land and create a sports center that will house our National team."

An admirable move in today's money obsessed sport. <ok>
 
International players shouldn't be looking for payment.
The national FA paying the insurance to cover their club wages (within reason) should they
be injured on international duty, is probably the most they could ask for.
