Message from a mate …

…. ‘I have a spare ticket for the games in New Jersey and Philadelphia as my eldest can’t make it due to work commitments, if anyone is interested?’
'Ticket is free but you need to pay $10,000 for a FIFA water bottle to gain entry' <cheers>

Just joking, hope the ticket finds a good home and a proper footy fan get sorted for the match :emoticon-0148-yes:

Just reading about the World Cup in Spain, in 1982.

A ticket could be bought for the final at the Bernabeu for £4.15p, (about £20 now). For this year's final, the tickets cost up to £24,500, possibly much more. . That's top v bottom prices of course, but the picture is clear enough.

At least a thousand times increase in the price. Even at about £4,000 which looks like the least you might possibly pay, it is still a fifty times increase.

A bloated, corrupt, and grotesque organisation in FIFA, has created a competition in it's own image. They have killed the World cup.

It's all very fake and messy.

If it wasn't for the insatiable appetite from football supporters it would all collapse.

I'll watch but my heart really isn't in it tbh.

At some point the nations will do a ‘Premier League’ and break away from FIFA.

Won’t be too distant either.

Everything is a money grab, even the footy game they asked EA sports to double what they paid to use FIFA as ‘our name sells your game’

EA said ‘**** you’ and the games broken records since for sales.

Sale will apply at the top. We don’t care of the word ‘Fifa’ is t in front.

Will still be the World Cup but maybe not ruined by cash grabbing it to unsuitable nations where the time and heat kills the game.

This should have happened some time ago. And it maybe wasn't far off from happening.

Leonart Johansson was beaten by the odious Blatter to be president of FIFA, just before the turn of the century .

Johansson was the spot on candidate the game needed, and was not helped by a grubby back room deal Blatter made with the FA, later reneged on of course.

Johansson knew what sort of low life Blatter was but as head of UEFA at the time, a job he had held and did very well since 1990, he still had influence. But nothing was going to stop Blatter's open corruption so, it is said that behind the scenes, he semi floated the threat of UEFA ceding from FIFA and holding it's own tournament, essentially in competition with FIFA. ( We know where the TV money would have went!)

No records exist of course, but at the next election, he was ousted by Platini, who climbed straight aboard the FIFA gravy train. Chance gone.

But that is what should happen. A EUROS "Plus". Invite a few other countries to join, the option of a few others to qualify, and let the world cup eat itself.

Agreed.

While I can partially get on board with all these random nations being in, what’s the point?

Last time we played Panama we played absolutely ****e and scored 6.

It does take from the prestige.
