When does the season start. I have seen August 8th mentioned, just 65 days away. Must be the shortest off season we have ever had.
It would be interesting to see his conversion rate in his season with us. He was injured for periods and let's face it, he wouldn't have had a lot of chances to tuck away anyway. That one goal as a percentage may not be too shocking. Was it Battersea who did a comparison of conversion and "on target" percentages for our current strike force? Be good to see what RvW looked like (at least the "on target" figure anyway).
Ask, and I shall deliver:
RvW in the Prem (2013/14)
He appeared in 25 games and his 'shots per game' ratio was 1.3. Working off that, he took 32 shots (rounding down) over the whole season.
Scoring 1 goal in the entire season, that makes his 'shots to goals conversion ratio' 3.13% in the Premier League.
10 of his 32 total shots were off target,
10 were on target,
12 were blocked,
So his 'shots on target to goals conversion ratio' was 10% in the Premier League.
I know that pure stats can be misleading and you might say that his shots were harder than others, but given that Hooper's conversion rate ranges between 25% (in the Prem) and 45% (in the Champ) of shots on target* it's not great if RvW is supposed to be clinical when hitting the target. In theory, that means that Hooper would have got 2-5 goals with the chances RvW had.
*those are taken from a quick google representing a point in the Champ/PL where the article was assessing it - I'm not sure what his overall percentages are for each season.
He was scouted by our chief scout at the time and signed on his recommendation, he then paid for it with his job at the end of that seasonSpot on. It was a McNally signing and it always ends in tears when Chief Execs spot a 'bargain'. He would never figure in AN's 4-5-1 and the club should sell before his contract becomes an issue. He'd suit Bournemouth I would think.
You seem to be missing something though, regardless of how many goals he scored in Holland, Portugal or France (all significantly inferior leagues, and therefore I don't think a goal every 3.5 games is anything to shout about) he scored one goal (no assists) in 25 games for us in the Premier League, so why would anyone suddenly assume he's going to score 10-12 next season?
Yes, but Hooper is just a better player.

Granted I did not see a lot if Wolfswinkel apart from TV but I honestly do not remember him missing many real chances.
No one on ones, free shots etc.
I saw even less as MOTD is early AM for me. Can only go by posters comments on here, which are certainly very diversified. The Snodgrass penalty incident was certainly a prominent feature in our relegation season. I also gained the impression that the two of them did not get on. Maybe wrongly.
Exactly what I was saying to some other fans yesterday and of course Snoddy would never pass the ball to RvW even if he was in a good position!!!

Rubbish - I really wish people would stop making things up to suit some kind of agenda
