Should Wolfswinkel come back to norwich or not?

In a good all round team, Snoddys contributions would have been less noticeable, and his shortcomings more so. I, too, was quite happy that we sold him and reverted to right footed right wingers. The only player I have seen play inverted winger with real success was Hucks, and he had much more pace than Snodgrass.
 
I have just voted on this thread and am really surprised that the 'give him another chance' percentage is slightly above 76%. For someone who did not shake any trees at all and never really looked like it, that seems extremely generous. JG may have been a tad harsh in his earlier summary but I don't think it was total fiction by a long way. I guess it is over to AN to see if he can work more magic like he did with Bassong and one or two others.

Maybe this is more a vote about our confidence in AN (to bring out something we never saw in a player who flopped) than it does in RvW himself.

Spot on. He is seen by many as somebody who can make a 'silk purse from a sow's ear'.
So the confidence is in AN, rather than RvW.
People cite Bassong, as an example (me included) but Seb we knew was ostensibly a good player anyway - hence his POTS award. He was alienated under Adams, but his qualities on the pitch were not really in doubt.
The same cannot be said of Ricky.

And for once it is a battle the Club can win. He is worthless now so apart from wages the Club have nothing to lose by letting him sit out the rest of his contract. That type of action would certainly force his agent to look for a Club prepared to pay something for him.

I don't think I agree with this statement. I doubt RVW's agent will see it that way either

How are we winning paying Premiership wages to somebody not playing? Its probably a million quid thrown away for no reason along with the full 8.5 million we paid.

The agent will realise the less money paid in transfer the better RVW's wages will be, or alternatively we will be forced to pay a % of his wage because only English clubs can afford them.

If there is any winner its certainly not going to be us.

Assuming that we are faced with the situation Cromer sets out what are the options open to us also assuming that nobody will be interested in buying him and prepared to match his current salary.
a) Put him in the squad and force his hand. He knows that he would be in breach of contract if he fails to turn up so presumably he turns up, goes through the motions, never justifies a place in the match day squad and basically leaves our squad one man short. Cost - incalculable.
b) Pay his wages but don't put him in the squad. Cost - his wages until we have a Club prepared to take him off our hands.
c) Buy out his contract and let him go. Cost - his wages until the end of his contract less a discount for early payment.
d) Let him go on a free and hope somebody takes him quickly. It would undoubtedly be at a far reduced salary and so to make him go he would only agree if we made up his salary. Cost - a large proportion of his salary until the end of the contract.
Of course this might all be academic in that there might be somebody interested in buying him/taking him at his current salary or the rumours about his attitude might be wrong and he wants to join the squad and play his part but whatever the outcome quite clearly we have got to write off most, if not all, of the £8.5m. If not I would suggest that (b) might end up the cheapest option and the option to encourage his agent - probably the most important cog in the wheel - to find him another Club.
 
No worries, living in the tropics as we do, it is easy to forget the mundane and drab existence our fellow posters have to endure. Except you Thai and China, though you are not in the tropics me old China.
 
It's not the drab existence I moan about old mate but can we have some of your weather please? We are supposed to be in one of the only 3 summer months we get and on Mon Tues and Wed I had to put the heating on and also had to wear my winter golfing jacket on all three mornings for my round of golf. My wife, who is a keen gardener, is still protecting some of her plants against frost and despite wearing a fleece had to stop working outside on two of the days because she was so cold. On Tues I am told that the bus drivers were told to put the heating on in their buses and our local Pub was also forced to put the heating back on. Apparently we are going to get a warm 24 hours at the end of the week ending with heavy rain and the temperature plummeting to 13 degrees on Sunday.

Lucky sod although to be fair I have just returned from golf and for the first time this week didn't need a jumper or a jacket. What I did need was lessons on how to use a putter!!!
