I'm sure I read something based on Opta stats that suggested Snodders had made less than ten passes to RvW - ever.
I can not believe that any Norwich fan would ever want this useless tripe to ever put on a yellow and green strip ever again!! What evidence do we base his so called hidden abilities on? A couple of good seasions in Portugal. No one can comment on how he use to be as a player, as I doubt anyone had seen him play before joining us, let alone even heard of him!! I think people just like the sound of his name, its foreign, sounds abit like Van Persie, so he must be good. Its clear that he is NOT GOOD!! A large proportion of blame lays on this guys shoulders and the scouts who recommended him for our previous relegation. Totaly inempt and out of his depth the entire season, but still continued to be blindly played every week because we had over paid. Just like Strahavka we need to cut our losses and move on. What would give him the right to just stroll back into the team and be given a chance ahead of any of our current strikers? He was a big factor in our relegation, he has not been involved in our promotion, he has had another poor season away from us, he is not championship yet alone Premiership quality. Why would Norwich risk giving him another chance? In the blind faith that he might score more than one goal in a season and we can recoup some of his transfer fee when we can fianlly off load him? NO.
In spite of JG's balanced and well reasoned argument, I'm still inclined to go with AN's decision on this one.
I remember something like this being said, but looking at Opta's website and what data they collect, it doesn't mention passes from player to player. My initial suspicion was that this was made up and the fact that Opta don't seem to collect this data suggests that would be right, but it would be interesting to find out - do Opta take requests via twitter or something?
You don't need stats for that, it was blatantly obvious to anyone who didn't need to go to Specsavers! My guess is Snodders was full of his own importance and didn't like the £8.5 Million price tag!
Ok Dave, so people keep telling me, but there was also this quoted "Opta stat" that just seems to be something someone made up to perpetuate the rumour. I checked twitter and there are quite a few tweets about Snodders crossing the ball to RvW, etc, but no sign of any Opta Mikey-FACT
They probably deserved it. More players should do it. No reason why supporters shouldn't get some back.
I'm not really knocking Snodders, he was very good for us in many ways, he was just let down by lack of pace and no right foot!
"My guess is Snodders was full of his own importance and didn't like the £8.5 Million price tag!" I don't think your very good at guessing or not knocking Snodgrass Dave.
Whatever limitations snod had he always worked his socks off for the team and came across as genuinely giving a damn whether we won or lost. He was comfortably our best player albeit in a poor season and well deserved his pots award. I am sure thar had he stayed with us and obviously not been injured he would have added a lot to the team and looked superb at championship level.
I would like to have seen how he would have fared/changed his game had he been here when AN took over. I agree he 'gave his all' - he just did it too slowly most of the time!!!!
Personally I don't see efforts being enough. It shouldn't be special that a player gives their all it should be routine. Personally I think Martin Olsson was our best player that season. As I've said before I Liked Snoddy but was glad when he moved on as he made us too unbalanced and predictable. He may have been singularly good but wasn't good for the 11 on the pitch.
