It’s in part a byproduct of being so ambitious though in my opinion. You target a, say, Marcus Edwards on 1st January and firstly Sporting need to see if they can get a replacement as he’s still on the periphery of their squad (not complete deadwood) which takes time and then Edwards is going to want to keephis options open to see if a Prem move or, as happened, a move to a team with parachute payments materialises.

The only way you get targets like that over the line quickly and early in the window in our position is to pay an above market rate premium (to club and player) and that’s just not sustainable.

In a window such as this, I have no complaints.

My aim is for us to have players snapped up early in the summer, not every player, but maybe some key signings. I doubt it's KS' aim mind.

I dont think that comment applies to the current owners, we may sign players that don't work out as well as we would like but there will be a solid logic as to why we signed that player.
Unlike previous administrations that just got a body in.

Brighton have signed a 19 year old winger for 6.6m that is playing in Sweden. Maybe that’s their interest in Watson dropped, now.
