Better too deep than too shallow is my feeling.

Of course the PL is the goal but not to get there and do exactly what Southampton are doing. They went up with a manager ‘they loved’ and who’s now long gone. The team are stinking the place out and the fans are suffering one humiliating defeat after another.

PL is the goal but it can quickly and easily become an own goal.

Yeah but that was down to their manager being stubborn with his play style.

RLB's style has more chance at success i reckon as we can focus on counters

No offence mate but that's way too simplistic tbh.

If it was just Russel Martin things would've improved but they keep losing including 0-5 at home to Brentford. They loved the manager, according to the fans, but he was soon kicked and not all the fault was his ... I wouldn't want that to happen with us.

Besides, Southampton was just an example of clubs that just want PL football and do anything and everything to get promoted.

Sheff Utd are another example. Having taken up an ill equipped team, that was rightly relegated, they're now assembling another with knee jerk chaotic signings. Burnley signed players who, once relegated, left the club like a plague of rats on a sinking ship ... no loyalty whatsoever.

It's these kind of situations I really don't want to see at Sunderland ...

... if we follow the same pattern we might be as good as them but I'd like to hope we can be better.

Anyway, just my opinion and, like I say, I may be hoping for too much.

The important factor here is whether Watson is willing to sign a new deal.

If he's willing, then we're in a strong position to say no to Brighton.

If he isn't willing, then selling him for, say, £5m now, rather than £5m in the summer when he has just 12 months left, makes a lot of sense to me. It means we can invest that £5m in the next few days towards a player like Edwards, who improves us and the balance of our squad instantly.
We could probably get that £5m in tribunal if we play the lad

Be gutted to lose Tommy but have to trust that the club will have done all they can to keep him if he wants to go then all the best to him we can’t keep everyone happy

The one thing I'm 100% confident about is the club are doing what's best for the club. This isn't Donald.

Exactly.

I don't think anyone still believes KLD is there to line his pockets ...

... if they do nothing would ever persuade them otherwise.

If Watson goes it's because Watson wants to go ... if that's the case I'd rather he did tbh.
