Wilson is too cheap if a price not to buy. He will be bought.

Watson owes us another season anyway with his injury and lack of game time. And isn't considered as a 9.

Rigg is playing every game.

Trey is just starting out TBF. Bit part role will do.

We are light in the CF position now. Succession planning never comes before short term objectives and success.
Think that last sentence is an oversimplification and not what a competent club would do. We have to think about what is likely to happen from this summer. Otherwise a natural extension of that would be we’d just buy a permanent player every time one goes down injured. I agree that we’re perhaps a touch short up top right now, but that is a 20 game thing. Ideally we want a 20 game solution. From the summer, either we’re a champ club and have a good base to work from (assuming reasonable development from players) or we’re an Prem club and we need more anyway. This isn’t really succession planning. This is squad planning. Realistically, a big price striker is being brought in to play a significant proportion of our minutes. And as of right now we’re a ‘one up top’ team, so there’s not loads of minutes to share.

If a new permanent signing is great then all well and good. Our first team will have improved. It just necessitates a reshuffle from the summer in my view. I’d be surprised if that reshuffle sees us keeping all our permanent strikers happy.

This is my point. The here and now is the remainder of the season. That’s one thing. However we have to also think about the implications of the summer too. The simple truth is that the likes of Rigg, Watson, Ogunsuyi (sooner rather than later) are not Sunderland players if they’re not playing. Their reputation is such that they have no need to wait round here if there isn’t a career benefit (ie game time). Add Young to that list soon too. The only way we keep them is if they are very near to the first team pitch. So while I hope that we are clever and get what we need in January, I certainly hope that we don’t do it in a way that ****s us from the summer, too. In my view a permanent striker signing this window would leave an odd man out from the summer if we don’t go up. I’d put my money on that being Isidor.
Ogunsuyi wanted by Liverpool, badly. Could happen unless common sense prevails.

Boro getting £20m+ for Latte Lath is a great deal for them. Conway is just as good if not better and they can spend that money on defensive upgrades. Obviously it's only a great deal if they get them upgrades though.
£17.665 million 22 m dollars

Yep. Think he needs a place in the first team squad from next season or we don’t keep him. Same with Watson. He needs to be a first team regular next season or he’ll be pushing to leave. All of this is predicated on us still being champ level. The dynamic may change on promotion. However this is why you do it. Rigg is playing every week now, but would have left in the summer if Dodds hadn’t given him a taster last season. Same with Jobe. He’d have been long gone if the fanbase had been listened to and he’d been bombed out from January. We only have access to this level of player because of pathway. As soon as we lose that, we lose them - and any other promising kids following them.

If its an option to make permanent am guessing all that was agreed when he signed?
We really need to be keeping him whether we go up or not

The option will just be agreed with the club. The obligation will be agreed with the player as well but that’s predicated on promotion.
