Not buying the Akpom link personally. Can't see it at all.
Santi isnt a foolproof link as a journalist - but he is definitely a tier above 99% of others.

From what I read, our name was just thrown on the end of a couple of French clubs, hardly anything in it. Not sure what that journo would know about our business in the Netherlands either. There's every chance we've just been used to drum up any interest in England
Well the same journalist that was early on the: Mayenda, Isidor, Le Bris, Le Fee, Ba, Aouchiche signings
But I agree in that he would have more idea about the French dealings, just definitely not one to rule out because he's somewhat trustworthy.

We're definitely being ambitious but we haven't really changed the model, we've just scaled up. A 29 year old who is 30 this year on a permanent deal and big wages with no clear indication of where he would play doesn't feel right.
I can't imagine it would be a loan given his age, Ajax will want to offload. A loan to buy almost makes less sense because he's a player that's never performed at Premier League level and has arguably already peaked.
I'll trust the club entirely if they make the deal, but the rumour hasn't passed the smell test for me.
Akpom would score goals here for sure.

Someone on twitter quoted that Journo’s post saying Lille had “revived” their interest. He replied saying “This is wrong” so when I re-read his tweet about us pushing to sign him and the two other clubs HAD interest. Maybe this means we are the only club going for him right now
