I seem to be seeing an uptick in moaners about our recruitment again on twitter and other places, did people not learn the first time when Clarke looked average first L1 season then was class the next season, or when Mundle was written off as awful and has been unreal for us this season. The hissy fit i'm seeing purely because we are linked with a player they haven't heard of is unreal. You'd think they'd have learned by now
Leave them to it. They’re clearly seeking a joyless existence and there’s nothing you can do:emoticon-0100-smile

I’d like to hear what people have to say if Sheff United do in fact get promoted to the PL

They’ve recruited really well for the level they’re currently at. Some seem to forget they’ll be signing players if promoted too…
Just doing what a parachute payment club should be doing really, coming down and not being in the mix for promotion straight away would be a huge failure.

I do think they should be thinking more long term though. They've been kind of doing the same thing repeatedly for years now with similar recruitment every year, constantly signing players that are in that weird bracket of too good for the Championship but not good enough for the PL.

I think they'll come 2nd.

Sheff Utd have a different approach to us but they’re also empowered with parachute payments not just this year but for the next 2 years. They can “afford” a more “ambitious” approach.

We don’t have that luxury so have to find the right balance. Which I personally think we’ve done well.
Yet. Some don’t see it like that

If they go up, they’ll go back down. The gulf in class between the EFL and the PL is only getting bigger.
I'll probably say they'll come back down again, like last time.

They were dreadful.
You could say the same for us though, it would be a struggle. Look at Leicester, they won the league with a better team than we’ve got, yet they’re struggling big time. Could argue Southampton’s side last season was better than ours now too - just look at how they’re doing

It’s all about recruitment and survival in that first season, just find a way to stop up

I can't see how it can continue which is a great shame ...

... it's been allowed to drift out of control with too many cliques, Mags and Mod favourites.
It's a shame as for exiles and fans in general forums are such a great way to find out news, have discussions about the game, players let alone the general help you can find from the varied people that post

Absolutely, but there’s no complaints from supporters if they go straight back up - which they’ve got a great chance

2nd is where I think they’ll finish too

1) Leeds
2) Sheff United
3) Burnley
4) Sunderland

It's a bizarre strategy, instead of a plan to even attempt to stay up, they throw money at it, sack the manager then go again.

It just seems a bit short term

One of my observations would be we have players who I think would look better in the premier league than they do in the championship.

Patto
Cirkin
Neil
Jobe
Rigg
Mundle
Watson
Le Fee

It is not a bad base to build from.

I would back Mepham to be good enough for a survival team. Isidor might well take to it.

We would need to add, of course we would. But I would fancy a core of our group to relish the highter standard.

In league 1 we were establishing a side ready to challenge the championship. We are doing the same again now. In my opinion anyway.

I agree with only 1). Sunderland 2nd the Sheffield then Burnley

Sheff Utd have all the top teams still to play bar us. If they're trying to create a championship super team it'll give them more chance to take points off the others.

We just need to do our job and try and be more ruthless going forward.

Exactly, we don't need to beat them, just do better than them.

They have to play each other more and have more derbies than us ...

... they can't both get 3 points if they're playing each other.

And they all have 'key players' who might yet be injured and out for the season.

Hopefully the day after the transfer window closes.

Leeds play burnley next monday night too
