That article saying Everton want him is pure clickbait.

It has the below paragraph hidden away near the bottom. Basically covering their bases. Just nonsense.

"But Everton are facing an uphill battle to come out on top in the race for Cannon as GMS sources have been told he is more likely to seal a switch back to the Championship, having thrived in the division for Stoke, which will come as a boost for Sheffield United and Sunderland."

The lad is frustrated at not having a perm home, he won't go back to a club that'll loan him out again like they did before. I honestly think he has more potential at staying and playing here than he does elsewhere
aye still be between us and Sheff Utd

Dan Neil is
Definitely think you are being massively harsh on him like, Jobe has been class this season but for me Neil plays a part in that. Positionally Neil is a lot better than Jobe, and helps Jobe so much - Jobe helps Neil at times as well

No matter what I say you'll not agree with and likewise

Neil had a few poor games at the start of the season but other than that he's had a good season - the last month he is on a whole different level and has been the best player in the team

He deserves to be captain because RLB trusts him, as does all the players. Neil never goes hiding, he is always looking to get on the ball and he is always looking to play forward - that's exactly what I want to see from a leader!!

Neil makes us a better team, and is one of the 1st names on the teamsheet

I don't get the stick he gets at times like, the lad has carried our midfield at times this last month and dragged us back into games

Last season he was a 1 man midfield and held his own while getting no support

He's a top player and I hope we keep him this window
Dan Neil is absolutely top quality and is the main cog in our team. He does the most important work that no one sees.
You will know than most mate as you watch certain players rather than the whole game.
For all the praise all our flair players get a huge percentage is down to Dan Neil, breaking up play , releasing the ball at the right time to the right areas.
It reminds my a bit of the Chelsea team when they won the league, how much praise John Terry got and how many clean sheets cech had, no one mentioned how good Carvalho was along side them.
Terry was making the last ditch tackles and headers that made him stand out but when he missed them Carvalho had read the situation and was ready to clean up his mess.
Cech had so many clean sheets as he had nothing to do.
Carvalho then left and Chelsea started leaking goals for fun.
Without Dan Neil we wouldn't tick the way we do and certainly wouldn't be 4th in the league either

Just a thought - Chelsea have recalled Chalobah from Palace and I'm sure Palace were one of the clubs watching Ballard?

Personally I don't think Ballard is ready for Premier League but Palace might?

Even happier if Cannon is now a perm. I rate him highly enough to want him here for the next 4 years whatever league we are in.

Personally I expect we be will be here by the weekend. If he was with us yesterday then all good. Speakman and co roll out the red carpet brilliantly well for prospective players. Alan Browne will be guiding him. One look round our stadium, and training ground will be enough. He wants a home, not many better places for him right now.

if we can get Cannon and a LB cover we had a good window maybe 1 or 2 more depending on departures

I still think we'll get another forwad after Cannon, Frigan on a permanent would be my guess, or someone else that can cover either wing and up front

Aye I'm coming round to an upfront permanent deal if the club deem the fee is value. And I trust them to decide that.

Showing him this is his new home for the long term and no more moves. And that if he joins he'll either be in the premier league with us next year or likely our main striker in the championship, has to be a good story.

of course Sheff Utd could tell him the same story. But hopefully we've really buttered him up like you say.

You have to think as well that the fact we've been in for him several times would give him confidence he's really liked here, not just an impulse panic buy

Fair enough mate, I agree he defo offers more than Rigg at the minute but I can’t say I agree with the captaincy thing and how much he brings to the team I think he’s a wheel in the cog and as you say he’s the engine in that role but if we moved Jobe back would we really be missing that much? What does he offer that Jobe couldn’t in there? Jobe is having to play as a 6 in possession sometimes and I wonder if that’s through preference to RLB or because he has to, because Neil doesn’t always want the ball. When you watch the better teams they rarely have their other centre midfielders having to come between the CB’s for the ball, it’s always just the 6. He just doesn’t look like a captain to me when he’s on the field I see other players like O’nien barking orders and looking superior, I think it was a mistake to take the captaincy from him but you could probably argue when we signed Mepham we weren’t expecting LON to stay in the Xl.

Maybe I’m harsh on the lad because I expect more from him when I hear how highly our fans have rated him for years but I just don’t see the talent in him that I see in others. I think he’s a good player but he’ll never be a great player. Certainly good enough to get us promoted like but with signing better midfielders it makes you wonder if we’ll end the window without losing one because we’re going to be stacked in there and on paper Neil is not one of the better midfielders we have imo.
If Dan Neil passes the ball to the opposition in dangerous areas in the premier league like he does for us in the championship, he’ll cost us goals most games that he plays in.

The game against Portsmouth he done it twice in the first 12 minutes. Silly passes in dangerous areas straight to a Pompey player. Looked on here at HT, nobody had mentioned it but they were saying how terrific he’d been.

Tbh i think we are due a season where we are the winning team in races for a player. Would be nice to see us get Cannon. if we do, we are 100% going up like

Sheff Utd have just been taken over by another mouthpiece promising investment and ambition …

… I’m not seeing it with this deal tbh

They clearly want the player but seem shy of putting in a sound bid.

The Toffees loanee scored 11 goals in 25 appearances in all competitions before being recalled earlier this month. The report claims the Blades are willing to pay a guaranteed £10million plus an additional £3million in add-ons, with Sunderland also reportedly agreeing a similar deal in that region.

Leicester City are said to be on the verge of accepting both offers and allowing Cannon the opportunity to speak with both parties ahead of a proposed move. It had been previously suggested that a move to the Stadium of Light would be a loan move with an obligation to buy if Regis Le Bris' side were to win promotion back to the top flight.

If both bids have been accepted and it’s down to the player it should mean he’s going to the club he wants to go to (unlike the Grigg deal)

If he comes to us it’s because he wants to and that would be great.
If he chooses Sheffield then we’ve made them pay almost double they wanted to so that’s some kind of result.

One thing though, if we’re thinking this kind of money there’s plenty more strikers out there and I would bet some really good ones.
