Surprised we haven’t seen more of Hjelde. 2-0 up against derby and he didn’t come on for Cirkin. You would think he would be an option to shore things up.

suggests he might not be fancied yet le bris has publicly praised him. He never seems to play for the u21s either.
I’m not, not at all. Quite pleased tbh.

He'll be absolutely fine and he'll be far wealthier than he would have been had he stayed here.

But I believe he'll be playing championship football next year.

As long as Ipswich keep their manager and best players together, they'll be strong next season in the championship.

If they lose McKenna? He might definitely end up becoming a championship also-ran

The way they have prioritised young talent I would assume they will keep growing and bounce up and down for a while before settling somewhere, ideally in the top league.

Which I am hoping we do too I'm hoping they are 12 months ahead of us.

Think Clarke might be having a sneaky look at our season and wondering if the money is the bee all and end all.
Anybody know if he comes to any of our games like last Sunday for instance.
I don’t think he’ll give a **** personally. He’s playing Premier League football. Highly doubt he’s gutted not to be at Luton ****ing Town tomorrow <doh>

Not while we are where we are. Should be keeping the team and squad intact with a tweak or two to add depth/remove waste.

I think it sends a terrible message.

I’m thinking of the moving forward as a club side of things than Riggs development to be honest. Of course he’s better off playing regular football here but that’s mega money to turn down when it could really drive us toward the PL. Realistically he’s not going to be here very long and if he is, it’ll be because he’s failed to live up to his potential

Spot on. What’s the point in playing against teams you’ve already proven yourself against, two seasons off the bounce. There’s no guarantees we go up and if we didn’t that would be 3 seasons Clarke has stayed here and not won promotion. He’s no worse off even if Ipswich get relegated.

I doubt you are right, I think he would much prefer to stay here, but be on the money he’s on now.

I'm not sure. I think he'll be pleased he's in the Premier League. He's only a few games in, got plenty of time to impress. He may well see this season as a shop window for a more established Premier League side.

Irrelevant. He wouldn’t get that sort of money here

He won’t care that he’s left. He’s now in the PL - good luck to him

I've only caught bits of the Ipswich games but Clarke has missed the type of chances that he has buried here previously. Could be a combination of more pressure with being a big money signing and knowing those type of chances won't come along as often in the PL. Hope it clicks for him, anyway, as he was outstanding for us.

To be honest I think he's better than Ipswich, and quite rightly wants to play in the premier league, he's good enough. He'd be a great asset to someone like Everton or Villa who try to press with pace and whip balls into the box, something I think he could do.

Before anything, I'd reiterate to players and fans that no first team stalwarts will be allowed to leave. If they do express desire to go it has to be agreed before the window opens. I do doubt anyone would want to go if we are still within 6 points of the top come Christmas, you can never rule anything out.

After that's sorted, we definitely need fullback cover. If Bainbridge isn't playing for Killie, get him recalled, he'd be solid if he doesn't end up back out on loan. Go out and buy one if not.

Beyond that, adapt to surroundings, we might not need anyone now but if we are top in Jan and the coach feels we need something or someone, gravitate towards it. I'm not saying chuck 10 million at a certain player, but consider options.

Outgoings wise, I'd be shocked to see our main lads leave. Hjelde for me needs a loan, he needs to be playing. Bringing in a fullback should allow for him to go on loan. Johnson too, depending on fitness of others.

Bennette, Ba and Aouchiche are up in the air. I don't mind losing AA permanently, feel like Jewi and Ba could do with a good loan. They need to find themselves, they're both stuck in my opinion.
I would keep Johnson here to learn from Mepham personally. What a chance for him to train day in day out against someone like that. Might just be worth more than 15 games at league 2 level. Can always loan him next season, he has time on his side

Ipswich will stay up imo. Probably with a couple of games to spare. Always going to tough first half of season, I expect a big uptick in results second half. Squad good enough, and I believe the coach will prove himself to be too.

What would people think of Rigg leaving for £30m in the winter window? Realistically we’re going to lose him soon and £30m would be a massive fee to help us progress.. would be a shame to see him go so soon though.
I would be horrified. His value is only going one way. He is happy here, playing and developing. 18 months before the right time for him to go. Then, at this trajectory, it will be more like £50m I believe. The buzz around him, across Europe, is ridiculous. The one I worry about in Jan is Jobe. Next summer will be a massive test to hold onto him, some might be prepared to beat the crowd and go big in Jan. Could we turn down £40m for him. I really hope so, I think he has the world at his feet.
