Maybe because he was loved here and he’s already getting stick from the Ipswich fans. I know where I would rather be if if I was on the same money, I hope that genuinely answers your question.
Yeah I just think it would be crazy to break up a team that's in the middle of chasing promotion. If we were to somehow get up this year Rigg would probably be more than happy to stay for another 12 months and his value could be nearly twice that 30m. I see no strong argument to sell him in January at all.
I don't think Rigg or Jobe can progress more playing elsewhere now. Sounds like they both sensible enough to prioritise that over £££. Clarke wasn't going to improve staying here imo. Made sense to let him have his chance.
I think Jobe is better now than Jude was when he left brum for Dortmund mind. Not to say he will ever get to Jude's level but he is capable of playing at the top level now. He's such a monster.
Was saying this to a mag at work then other day, he has so much potential. I still can't believe the improvement from last season, just goes to show the right attitude from a player and a proper head coach can work wonders.
Yeah Jude was younger, had more potential but in terms of ability I think they're close and he and certainly didn't have quite the same physicality jobe has had the time to develop.
I personally think he needs more time at a club that is letting him develop. If he moves to one of the bigger clubs he may well end up back in U21 football again and have to fight for his place all over again. In 2 years time he could be worth a lotorr than 30 but only time will tell on that 1
Also, I don't think he is thinking of going anywhere as he is clearly loving every minute playing here. This came over clearly at full time on Sunday when the final whistle went. Instead of shaking hands with the opposition, as other players did, he turned and ran towards us in the corner shouting and waving his arms in delight, with a massive smile on his face.
Regardless where we are in the league in January I'm sure they'll be looking to move on Ba , Aouchiche , Bennette and Rusyn. First teamers on loan doubt they'll want them back either. We've upped the standards now within the squad. Good stuff. Really can't see why Jobe or Rigg would be sold and they'd get a salary increase if we were promoted . Better chance playing for us every week than other clubs. Makes sense for them to give it a go at our club. Huge fees offered now that's a bit different ? Difficult to judge additions in January until the time comes . If we're in with a shout of promotion it's going to be a bit of Plan A and B. I'd be certainly sorting out Mepham and Isidor for the future . We're looking good for the first time in years. Sunderland AFC - Detailed squad 24/25 | Transfermarkt
BBC sport reporting from a Dutch source that Henderson will complete the season with Ajax despite wanting to come back to Sunderland.
think we need a full back for depth Don't think a winger or DM would go a miss if we want to double down in jan and make sure we have a full bag going past the turn
Unless there’s an injury to cover we’ll be recruiting for next season. With nothing guaranteed but attraction of potential promotion think it’ll be more young prospects.
I think both Jobe and Rigg should stay put till they outgrow us, like Clarke did. You'd think given the development of Jobe since last season, that we'd be lucky to get another year after this season. With Rigg, I expect two more years at least.
Be interesting to see how the club treat the January window if we are in the mix for the automatics. Might this be the time they gamble? Couple of quality signings to get us over the line?
I'm just not sure where I see glaring shortfalls anymore. We need cover at both left and right back but neither spot are particularly weak for us at first team level when everyone is fit. Even up top, we have several options, two of whom have proven themselves capable of leading the line. Maybe right wing to compete with Roberts. Poveda looks like he's struggling to get fit and might not be able to stay fit.
