Bizarre one with Watson. Still got 18 months left, surely his value only increases to end of season. Not sure why we wouldn't keep him around to help with the run-in and cash in in summer? Or if we go up maybe he could be convinced to stay. Really odd, imo.
Unless we're able to get a good one done, I'll feel like this was an unnecessary deal it I'm honest. If the lads were to play first team for us in the run-in I'd expect we'd be able to get a similar fee in the summer. If we're doing this deal now, it really should be with an intent of getting a good long term deal done.

Think Tommy is being badly advised as theres not a chance hes going to Brighton to get more game time than he will here.

Same here, it’s a really strange decision.
If not being guaranteed playing time here due to Mundle is the true reason, then going to Brighton doesn’t make sense at all.

I'm pleased with that, something about it just didn't sit right for a while now.

I'd love Clarke back now, that would give us great options on both sides and I think he'd work well with Le Fée.

Then see where we are at the end of the season before we decide how to proceed ...

... there's a fair chance we'll be passing Ipswich on their way down.
Yeah seems he’s keen to be away and maybe thinks too highly of himself at the moment, fine for him to believe in himself but I don’t care how good a player is once they no longer want to be here I don’t care about them, off you pop Tommy and good luck

Clarke returning would be amazing and turns those knife edge games into wins more often than not

By the way how ****ing good is it that we are selling academy players who've played a few games for £15m.

That probably funds the academy for several years.

I bear no ill will to Watson. Hope he has a good career. Glad he signed his pro deal with us so that we were able to bank significant cash for him rather than be left with tribunal.

I expect a quality forward to come in now. I was fine with Willock as an addition to the current squad but he can't be the Watson replacement. I think we'll get one.

Rigg must be worth £100m

This will sound shallow but, to me, he always seem to have a miserable face on the pitch and didn't look 'bonded' with the players and supporters.

I doubt Sunderland were touting him to other clubs and I also doubt Brighton would've pushed without encouragement from his agent.

It seems to be Watson who wants this and, if that's the case, thanks for the 100% profit and good luck.

Perhaps he has skeletons in his NE closet and Brighton is as far away as he could get.

I think we now have some serious money to play with. Say goodbye to loan to buys I reckon

Would be surprised if, this late in the day, we made outright purchases. Loans always go through quicker.

I think we only signed Isidor permanently for this possibility. It was an insurance to free up a loan spot if we needed it.

I know some think we now need 2 wingers but I still think we'll only look at one, on loan.

One good loan is plenty. If Watson was fit we wouldn't be bothering at all IMO
