His per 90 stats from last season in Eredevisie are mental to be honest

https://www.fotmob.com/en/players/413158/chuba-akpom

Has 0.95 goals per 90 which was the best in the league and is above 90% for almost every attacking stat bar one as well as near enough above 80% on every passing and dribbling/possession stat
That was mainly playing as an out and out forward too wasn't it? Rather than the more withdrawn role he was in when he had his most success at Boro?

Only started 8 games in the league, they prefer Brobbey up top so most of his appearances were off the bench. Played on the right, CF and as the 10

In an Ajax team that struggled for the most part as well
Yeah true, smaller sample size as well but his attacking numbers in the Europa league are even more impressive, although he only played 184 minutes but is quite literally 99th percentile for everything.

It was the same story in the championship, nearly 100th percentile for every attacking metricas a total and per 90, and thats with over 3,000 minutes played

Keep seeing that point he only had one amazing season, but we dont need that level from him. We just need him to contribute something to the squad which he should with his versatility and experience especially at this level. He doesnt need to score 15 goals to be a good signing, just give RLB the option to rotate without the drop in quality being significant.

I do agree with the opinions that we should try and avoid a permanent deal. I dont want us to deviate too far from our strategy to try and push hard for promotion. Can end in a vicious cycle if you get it wrong too often.

Mostly agree with you there. I don’t think a permanent would be too bad though. We’ve seen with the proven championship striker market now, that Akpom would still have good value in a year or two.

Akpom to score the winner against Boro

Fully think we can go up automatically but obviously nothing is a given.. if we do fail then we are putting ourselves in a hell of a position for the play offs. Realistically I don’t think Leeds are going to be in the play offs and the other two we’ve totally outplayed in 3 of the 4 matches.. the other you could argue we were the better team and walked away with nothing. If we sign Akpom and nobody else this window, and providing nobody leaves, I’ll be very confident of us going up like.

What’s all that about have I missed something? Thought he was going to Sheffield U? Glad he hasn’t because he’s been class so far this season.

Southampton recalled him from Wednesday but have now sent him back there. Apparently Wednesday are paying more than they originally were.

All a bit scummy from Southampton really.
