Yeah I think that's all true. It does make me think though, even if Le Fee is our one marquee signing do we have any surprise family size tent signings lined up for the window. I think it would be unusual for a team with a specific target in its sights to make one big acquisition and not add to it significantly, you're either going for it or you're not.
We’ll soon find out! Great start to our window though. I hope we can shift those who need moves and then strengthen further
“...is there any way to dupe Conte into believing Enzo Le Fee is a box-to-box CM? He's the Kante-type midfielder we've needed since the summer of 2019 and has 18 months on his Lorient contract, so we'd best act fast before PSG or whoever gobble him up” ^^ posted on the Spurs forum January 2023
Not sure he would be allowed as some matches for this round have already been played but I could be wrong?
I can't quite believe this has actually happened. I said it a couple of days ago, but it's the most ambitious signing we've made in my lifetime. This is a real statement of intent that we're aiming not only for promotion but to establish ourselves back in the top flight and I've no doubt we're going to do it. When European football experts like Andy Brassell and Julien Laurens are commenting on a Sunderland signing, you know you've made a splash in the transfer market. If that's our business done now, I'll be satisfied. If we can go and get someone like Louie Barry still and some right back cover, I'll be ecstatic. Even when we started so well, I didn't think this would be a Championship winning season. Now I do!
Kind of signing that can push you into the premier league, one and half million on his wages for the next six months to potentially bring in around 100m. some pull mind, Betis went hard for him and to turn down the warm weather, huge club and La Liga football to come play in the north east of England in the second division is the kind of lunacy I can only appreciate. Massive signing and very excited to see him play.
It's also important to note his English is very good. He should have no issues being on the wave length of our English speaking players and taking on the pitch instructions from Neil / Jobe etc.
Very brave move by the club… shows a clear intent of direction. I’ll be honest didn’t know much about the lad but after a bit YouTube footage… he looks the real deal. We could have another Amad on our hands
This is exactly what is needed. A significant uptick in quality and experience in big games. A genuine rise in quality and pedigree. Yes, his wages significantly supercede all of our other players however, there is no fee so it will balance out by the end of the season. I am sure we will start to shift some of the dead wood to compensate. Rusyn, Ba etc. This is the strategy I wanted to see personally. The squad really doesn't need much, but when try starts align and timing his perfect like this, then it's time to strike.
For any lads on here that play EAFC, it’s another player for the lads with a full face and tattoo scan. Most won’t give a **** on her but anyone who plays the game will know we love this From that piece Tees shared Outtara was there as well shame he’s going well for Bournemouth a rapid lefty like that would be a wonder add.
Aye agree mate, but who’s comments do you think does the most damage to the club, people who are praising it or people who continually slag it off?
Tbh I’ve never seen the lad play but reading the reports, the stats (have a listen to Phil smith on YouTube) and the fact Roma spent the money that they did a few month ago, I can appreciate how this is a big deal. I’ve been thinking about how this deal even became a possibility. Down to RLB? Or are we now looking into a new player pool after the sale of Clarke? Or both maybe. I think regardless, this is the first time speakman has absolute trust in the head coach and as shown previously, the club will push the boundaries when needed if the player fits the profile and the deal makes sense for us. This one clearly does. Like that fella said on the radio, why not get carried away instead of fearing it going wrong in the end. Following Sunderland it’s nearly always the journey that the memories are made, rarely it’s the end result.
Fellow saddo here first place I go after I’ve looked at their transfer market page and YouTube highlights
Damaging comments are the speculative ones. - no money - Speakman picking team - KLD multi billionaire ‘taking money from the club’ - Don’t want to go up. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a negative view of what’s happened on the park, especially in the hours after a game, that’s the passion for the game and club. If you look at every summer we have the same ‘selling the Crown Jewels’ craic, it absolutely has not happened. 1 player sale each of last 2 season neither of which have damaged us. We are all allowed opinions, I have certainly had ‘this is ****’ moments despite my nature being naturally positive. That’s fine. Digs at Speakman and the ownership group are the ones. They have been magnificent owners. They have got a few wrong. Players and managerial mistakes. Absolutely. Overall though, wow. It’s a ****ing A+. From where we were 3 years ago to now, with minimal spend, to now, with genuine prospects of the PL showing we can move forward and take another huge leap with a £20million deal, the timeline of ramping it up has been exceptional. Add in contract renewals for BDB, Jobe etc. keeping Rigg. We don’t wanna piss this owner off. They get it. They want it. Right owners, right manager, right ambition, right players. Several years in League One is firmly in the distant past now.
We’ve a load now. Trai Huggins Alese Big Dan Enzo Paddy Connolly Samed. I know Jobe and LON were done as there was a video so probs a few added in a near update. With the stadium and us also being one with actual crowd noise we class for a career mode now.
I know it’s a trivial thing but shows the football world are taking notice of us again, long may it continue
I'm equally happy with Samed as well. Still buzzing with him. Over his injury now, was mint in league 1. That midfield will be great and we'll be able to take rigg out the starting line up for a few months which will do him the world of good
I think with Jobe, he loves it here but he wants to play PL. I’d wager he stays here. He could go Palace now and likely get games, he could stay here and we go up and be guaranteed them. He could go end of season and go another level like Spurs or Arsenal and have a chance of games. Would be a daft time for him to go, and if he went end season should we fail he’d get a better move and we’d get a better fee. I think he stays. Dans contract is the biggest concern of a loss.
