We’re also only 3 points off mid table though so no not really, we’ve lost more games than Huddersfield in 21st place.
But this time last season we were in mid table. Not 3 points ahead of it, actually in it.

I prefer to see us as on the fringes of the play offs, but that’s because my glass is half full. I guess yours is half empty?

It's also possible that Moore said,

"Leave home and live in digs, for 4 months, in the far NE of England ... fck off!"

You’re absolutely right and he chose to go to Ipswich for his own reasons. My point was that we can have the best of both worlds if improving our team this season and also bring on the younger lads for next. This could apply to any “experienced” striker that people keep asking for not necessarily Moore. I was trying to illustrate that it’s not an either or situation as some fans believe. We can benefit from loan deals in the long term they’re used right.

It’s not as black and white (sorry!) as people try to make out though. If for example we brought Moore in and he was the main man upfront til the end of the season it would benefit the team now. In training every day, he can then pass on his experience and know how to the younger lads, teach Hemir how to use his strength to hold off a big centre half or how to jump early to get ahead of your centre half.
We then benefit now and in future when Hemir starts next season with a bit more knowledge of being physical.

ill look forward to seeing how great Moore is for Ipswich. Personally think we’ve had a good window and I’m excited for the rest of the season.

Me too mate. I’m not saying he’s a world beater. I’m saying him or someone like him can come in and make an impact on loan whilst also benefiting the progress of the young lads so they’re better prepared next year. I’m pointing out that some people see loans simply as a short sightedness and they don’t look at the bigger picture. We have had a decent window. I’m not argueing that.

It takes a huge amount of work before these deals can be agreed ...

... Sunderland seem to take a great deal of care with these young lads.

Sunderland are signing Glentoran’s exciting young winger Rhys Walsh after making a late bid for the 17-year-old in the transfer window.

The Championship outfit have been big admirers of the teenager and decided to move for Walsh now rather than wait until the summer with other English clubs showing interest in the Glentoran Academy graduate.

Walsh, who relishes running at opposition defenders, has played for the Glens first team on several occasions this season and impressed with his speed and skill. He has signed a two-and-a-half year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Oval boss Warren Feeney: “Obviously I have mixed feelings about losing Rhys as obviously he’s a player who I know would have gone on to do great things for Glentoran as he was already becoming a big favourite here.

"But on the other hand it’s a brilliant opportunity for Rhys as he’s joining a big club with a great record for developing young players and giving them their opportunity. Rhys is a very exciting player who can lift a game with his skill and directness, but he is also a strong and hard-working lad. I’m certain he’ll seize the opportunity and do very well there.

“Rhys is a perfect example of the strength of the Glentoran Academy. We currently have Johnny Russell and Aaron Wightman in the first team squad, Charlie Lindsay back from Derby County on loan and we have Casey Smyth out on loan to get experience with Dundela.

i agree but we obvs didn’t find the right person to loan or who was available!
I don’t think paying over the odds for someone to come in for 17 games that may not make a big impact as they haven’t played a great deal of football was the right thing to do.
I’m sure if they could have gotten someone in that they felt would benefit us and how we play and how we want to play they would have.

I’m a simple man and generally optimistic. So I’m pretty happy and think we have improved the squad enough to perform better from here on in. I’ll go to games with hope, be happy with a good performance and be disappointed with a poor one, then look forward to the next one. For me there’s no need for a whole load of additional noise, but I'm simple and niaive and just try to enjoy my support of the club/team.

Yeah I know. I agree.

seems this 30k per week is the 'accepted' amount the club would have paid to get moore on loan.

wonder what the rest of the squad would think.. a player, not actually owned by the club, is getting more than them and then comes the summer and lads want to leave, then the 'disgruntled players at the club, must be something wrong there' shout begin.

...and still they wonder why others get annoyed at the constant bleating on and repeating the same sh1te almost every time they post.

Don’t know if posted on here, but seems a lot of Millwall supporters wanted to sign Styles after his loan.

He is a gem mate. Hungary are a good side and in the Euros. He is a decent part of that side. You dont play international football at that level unless you can play a bit. Their group performances were very good indeed. I think for us he will get better still, tailor made for how we want to play.

A mate's son knew him at Millwall and says he's 'high spirited' and sometimes thinks he knows best ...

... and a great left foot but a right he can only stand on <laugh>

Exactly as my line of thought. Couldn't get a ticket for Boro but looking forward to the next home game, followed by Huddersfield. Currently waiting to see if we can get tickets for Norwich as well.
Really pleased club are continuing to go with THEIR plan and not give it to the moaners. My view is, if they can't get get their heads round this, then instead of moaning every 2 minutes then maybe they consider looking to "support" a other team. I appreciate everyone is entitled to an opinion but to say the same thing multiple times a day 24/7 is pointless.

A long time ago I worked in Belfast for a while. I worked with a guy who was a top end hurling player. He took me to watch some games and it was unreal. I absolutely loved it, fastest game I have ever seen and bloody brutal as well.

He wasnt a great big lad or anything. Wiry would be the word. Fast as you like though and he could take the hits and give them back. They didnt wear any padding or anything, it was mad.

The ground was called Casement Park I think. Mostly standing and it was a hell of a good atmosphere. I think it has been derelict for years now though sadly. Not sure where in Belfast they still play.

Brought back some memories typing this. Always wanted to go to Croke park for the finals but never did. Going to have a look into that again, adding it to my list.
Love a bit of hurling. I did the tour at Croke Park a couple of years ago. There was 'how hard is your shot' thing. You had to flick the ball up off the floor with your hurley and then hit it. It's harder than it looks. All the Irish lads were laughing as I was swinging at thin air.

Very old game too. I think it goes back at least as far as the Irish Iron Age.

Casement Park is supposed to be a lovely old ground, never been sadly. Some of the NI league grounds are nice too though, including Glentoran's.

I agree, but seeing some posters being positive and posting the same thing with different words over and over and over is equally as annoying, I am positive by the way

The chat on here really is night n day to the stuff you see on social media. Even the people who havent been happy with the transfer activity have articulated it well and make valid points. Same with the positive posters. Can clearly tell everyone wants what is best for the club, we wont all agree on how to get there but thats normal. I dont like when things get personal, either against each other or against folk employed at the club.

Social media has been dreadful today, normally is tbf, so much so I've removed most of the fan pages i follow. Just folk making up stuff to attack the club, n acting like everything they know is facts!!

Ill stick to here like, the banter is normally good n mostly respectful so lets keep it up fellas

Cant wait for someone to create the summer transfer thread so we can start this all over again!!!
