• “I don’t need the money. I want to play. With all the respect I have for Ligue 2, I don’t see myself playing in this championship.

“There is only one club for which I would have agreed to return to the lower division for, it is Sunderland, to help them return to the Premier League. I had an extraordinary year there.

“I’m not just a footballer, I can help on and off the pitch, I know the moments of crisis. I am a reliable person. If you trust me, I’ll give it back to you a thousand times.”

Bring him home

Free agent isn't he? We should already have been on this, have him over to train see what hes still got & get him up to speed

Ipswich’s main striker is out for the season which is ****e news for every other club who hoped to get a January striker as you’d imagine them being in vogue and fighting for automatics, with tonnes of cash to spend, puts them top of the queue.

That Stansfield link HAS to be agent talk to remind everyone the loan can be cut short if anybody wants him permanent.

Can see Ipswich dropping a few million on him permanently.

Eerily similar to what they did last Jan to nab broadhead, fair play to them like they’re flying and they don’t **** about

I’ll get pelters for this but without my red and white goggles on, I think most players would choose Ipswich above us right now. By all accounts offering more in wages, have a fantastic coach with an attacking and fun playing style, and have a very good chance of playing in the premier league next season.

Supposedly we are 18th in league for salaries (which does scream penny pinching) and Ipswich are 16th, I doubt they are massively out muscling us there.

They are in a better position of course but with signs of slowing down.

I’d fancy we had a great chance if we were in a battle with them.

their owner has publicly said he’s throwing everything at promotion to the Premier which even if just rhetoric, does suggest they’re spending more on wages on these players than many would guesstimate.

Yeah they need promotion really, wage bill is something like 120% of their revenue.

They've just lost two strikers in Hirst to injury and Scarlett has went back to Spurs

Ah 100% mate massively attractive club right now, we are too but I’d argue they’re more stable right now

Sounds like he’s a ****ing idiot then don’t it, all he’s done is inflate what people will ask for and Southampton are absolutely reeling them in.

I wouldn’t want to hear our owner giving it that craic.

They are great to watch though and on a buzz so for sure they are attractive.

Absolutely madness.....clubs never learn after seeing so many fail to go up....then be in real bother

Get what you mean mate but he chose Birmingham over us because it was closer to family, just doesn't sound like he fancies being in the North East.

I could be wrong on that but they either need promotion or a big player sale to continue like they are
As good as they are I don’t know who they could sell for big money, the left back Davis is very good mind but him aside I’m not so sure

Its their first year up, so they start year 1 of rhe ffp cycle, this year is a free hit for them in that regard.

When the new owners came in they pretty much started throwing money at getting them out of league 1 and don't seem keen to stop
