I mean like I said, it's bizarre to even try to agree a fee in this situation. Otherwise how do we hope to get him? I notice you didn't bold the second half of that sentence which says exactly that.

Just seems an utter waste of time.
I could’ve bolded that part of the sentance too and it’d still be wrong what you said. We clearly have some confidence of signing him or they wouldn’t have bothered at all.

How can we have any confidence if Town can't recall him? He's a Nantes player for the whole season. The only way we could have any confidence would be if Town have some ability to recall him. Which is the entire point of that sentence. You seem a bit too desperate to laugh at me seemingly getting something wrong without actually understanding the point being made. Yes it looks like I was wrong that there's a recall clause, but in that case I'm not wrong that it seems weird we have any confidence we can sign him.

maybe with thomas

its either, part of our fee is to pay to cancel his loan

or to try and put pressure on them to let an unhappy player leave, maybe they will let him leave if and when they get a replacement before the window closes?

It seems a strange use of our time trying to put pressure on a club to send a player back and/or a player to down tools when we could just be looking elsewhere and getting a player in a bit sooner and with less effort.

Bringing in a player prepared to down tools to force a move doesn't sound great either.

But then even then if the LB is a loan we'd still have 6. I can only assume we're prepared to make Puerta permanent if need be and if we get Barry we have a permanent LB lined up.
I thought Puerta was going to be made permanent after a certain amount of games and he's about 6 away from that, don't ask me when but I read it somewhere!!

Yeah just wonder if we can make it permanent outside the window (didn't we do this with Simons?) or if we fast track it and do it now. We must have a plan. Baz and Katherine discussed it on the pod so it's clearly an issue but the club will have worked it out.

I also wonder with the talk of Burns impressing the club if we look to make him permanent.

We probably can like we did with Simons. However you'd think we'd want to sort it sooner. The obligation to buy after playing a certain number of games probably isn't immediate, you'd think it'd be by a certain date in the summer (like we seemingly had to sign Giles by a certain date last summer).

Another factor here is that Puerta as a loan player is listed in the 25-man squad even though he actually qualifies as underage. If we make him permanent before the squad has to be named, then he can be on the underage list, saving a space in the 25. I didn't expect that to be an issue but with all these signings it might be an issue if we don't find homes for some of the players we want to.

The article says Nantes have an option to buy, so I assume that's why there's no recall. It also says he's keen on it, as he has a young family and wants to come back to Yorkshire and "The pacey winger is viewed as an important part of Selles’ January recruitment drive, given his attacking potency and vast second-tier experience with the Spaniard a big fan of Thomas." But like you say, it seems a strange one. Him and Barry both seem like difficult deals, and we could end up with neither.

See the only member of your fan club is liking your post.<laugh>

so if huddersfield have accepted our deal, youd think they have basis to cancel the loan
but i guess it might take a couple weeks

It'll be potentially complicated by financial factors, if a loan fee has been paid then a part of it will need to be cancelled/paid back. There might not be a winter window recall option etc...

It's another one where I don't get how there's a delay to resolve it. Surely either it can be done or it can't and we move on. Surely the contracts spell out clearly whether he can or cannot be recalled and sold. Football transfers seem to exist in a strange time vortex where it takes days or weeks for clubs to determine the simplest things.
