With Giles, I really don't think he lacks confidence, has self doubt, etc etc. Whenever you see the 'behind the scenes' type stuff he always seems confident, bubbly, even a bit cocky (in a good way). I just think he's simply not a very good defender. Isn't it a bit like the Alsop / keeper discussions, meaning the primary job of a LB is to defend. Q the comparisons to Robertson! There are some similarities but Robertson absolutely got stuck in, put his body in there, had real pace and grafted - all in a way that Giles can't (or doesn't).
I'd have loved him to have come back into the starting 11 and prove the doubters wrong, not least so as to end the LB problem, but for me he just hasn't.
