Giles is just genuinely unlucky on our part. We’ve signed a player of serious championship pedigree and it’s just not worked out. He’s definitely more of a wing back yes, but I think most champ teams would’ve still taken a punt on him in a 4 because of his pedigree
According to Baz's article today, we're looking for 4 signings and Seles still wants the squad cutting down.
How we get rid of Sinik? If we release him now, does his contract just get paid off in full, partially, or is it literally cheaper not to get rid of him because he’s getting paid less now, because he’s not playing? Is it possible to find ways around paying an injured player more than he’s worth, or is it a financial issue at the club?
Yeah, I know, but is it financially viable to pay him off now, obviously it’d have to be less than what he’d get for his full contract. But my question is more a case of, is he currently getting paid less at the moment, because he’s injured, so it’s cheaper than paying out the, “less than his contract” situation?
I guess he loses his appearance fee, win bonus & other enhancements but his core salary should remain the same
I’ve got Boro supporting friends and family, they thought we had got an absolute steel. He clearly didn’t fit into Rosenior’s system, so was a strange signing and then Walt didn’t rate him. He’s looked totally shot of any confidence. Hopefully we’ve got a manager now who can get the best out of him
They will find him a Turkish club in January and pay up his contract. It’s a shame, he is clearly someone with a talent but he is the dictionary definition of “the move just didn’t work out”. He may never bounce back.
well obviously appeareance bonuses arent paid, hes not playing thats obvious thats like saying, omur got paid less last week as he stayed on the bench. and youre the most antagonistic poster on here lol
Him and a few more. Giles is arguably the best left back at City right now but hates being doubted or dropped..Both those apparent issues are repairable.
With Giles, I really don't think he lacks confidence, has self doubt, etc etc. Whenever you see the 'behind the scenes' type stuff he always seems confident, bubbly, even a bit cocky (in a good way). I just think he's simply not a very good defender. Isn't it a bit like the Alsop / keeper discussions, meaning the primary job of a LB is to defend. Q the comparisons to Robertson! There are some similarities but Robertson absolutely got stuck in, put his body in there, had real pace and grafted - all in a way that Giles can't (or doesn't). I'd have loved him to have come back into the starting 11 and prove the doubters wrong, not least so as to end the LB problem, but for me he just hasn't.
Robertson was similarly culpable defending when he was here. He reached the levels of the 'perhaps' the left back in world football at one point through being coached ...
Yeah I mentioned Barry the other day but seems like he'll go to a club fighting for promotion. I'd like to think we're best suited for him though. With the announcement he's being recalled and us having an unnamed player lined up there's an outside hope..
Difficult one. Perhaps Giles simply feels more comfortable playing in a system that suites and/ or with better manager. Our new Gaffa hold the key to his future you’d of thought. *. As good as he was Robertson was also criticised for his defending with us from memory. He was taught the Liverpool way and never looked back. UTT.
