I don’t think Pandurs been great, I think he’s possibly being judged against the previous keeper which makes him seem a lot better. He’s had some very good games, he’s had a couple of not so good ones, and most the time has just done what’s expected of him, and also maybe stood out because the outfield players have been so ****.

I don’t think he’s undeoppable, he was at first earlier in the season, but I think if Rushworth hadn’t been injured he’d have had his chance by now.

I know he's highly rated, but I'm not sure it would make much sense for us to be signing a centre back. Hughes and Jones are very good players, the former is still finding his feet at this level but the quality is obviously there. Macca is limited but good backup - remember Blackburn really wanted to sign him this summer, I think that's an example of how we play down our own players. With a position like CB where you don't really rotate, you need to have backups who are content to be backups. For the same reason I don't necessarily think Burns should go back just because he's not been playing - you want your 4th choice centre back to not be playing really.

Anyway, signing a highly-rated young defender when there isn't a place for him to take doesn't seem logical to me. Signing Hughes to step into Greaves' place was bang on the money, but we don't have a Greaves leaving an available spot now.

If he’s class he displaces someone who he’s better than. That is the point of making an improvement.

This is who I wanted us to get in the summer if for whatever reason the deal for Hughes fell through. Quality player. That being said, having him and Hughes start together is a really young centre-back pairing. Bindon’s arguably good enough to start for a bottom-half Championship club, which we currently are. Don’t think centre-back is a huge priority in January though but if other clubs are interested now, it might force our hand to act in January rather than wait until summer.
