Rushworth will get his chance.

Club website lists 32 in the first team squad, but of those Cartwright, TLT, Smith, Vaughan, Jarvis, Longman and Simon's were out on loan last season.

I understand the 2 young keepers were injured so couldn't go out, and Jarvis was recalled due to injuries in august but I don't understand why the likes of Smith and Vaughan weren't sent out on loan this summer.

he might, he might also have his loan cancelled or recalled in the window which is soon

Had to focus all our attention on incoming, so the young lads get ignored and they waste more time.

I suspect we'll see pretty much all our loanees go back; Rushworth, Burns and possibly Bedia? Vaughan, Jarvis and Longman need to find homes, at least on loan. Sinik needs to GTFO.

Even if they all go, we probably need another 5 coming in to give us a chance, not really slimming the squad by all that much.

Getting rid of Longman should be just about bottom of the to do list this January.

It makes sense to return Rushworth to his parent club if it frees up finances to improve the squad.
I was looking forward to seeing him play as he arrived with a very good reputation.
Pandur can't be dropped as he has to be up there as player of the season so far.

I suspect he might be if Rushworth does well when he's fit. Personally I don't think the competition would do Pandur any harm at this stage in his career.

Besides, unless he's recalled, then the parent club would have to agree to cancel any loan. There's no guarantees they would.

That’s fair. A few of the younger lads think they’re better than they are though. Smith, Vaughan for example didn’t want to go to League 2 despite both being sub par/not good enough at their respective league 1 loans last season. Our structure for young players is poor but a few players don’t help themselves. Smith had handled his development excellently til the last year, injuries didn’t help to be fair.

Other clubs would take rushworth, it would be in Brightons and the players best interest to go elsewhere imo

Depends on whether he comes in when he's fit or not I guess.

I think we'll try to keep him and give him his chance. Whether we could better use the cash elsewhere or not is a different argument.

There’ll be a third keeper too as Ingram got injured mid season im sure so we will have had robson on the bench maybe

You're right about Docherty and Allahyar, I forgot those off the top of my head. So make it 22 vs 28. But a young keeper making the bench is irrelevant, the question is about the number of senior players to keep occupied and motivated and we have just as many young keepers this season as last.

Wouldn’t say it’s an argument at all really, Pandur may not be everyone’s favourite passer of the ball but he’s been one of our best players all season and not let us down at all. Even if it was Gordan Banks I’d probably end his loan just so we could spend the money on a striker, we desperately need some goals in this team or we’re in deep trouble.

There's loads of players we could get rid of if we need to raise funds though, which there's no real suggestion we do anyway. I don't know why there's so much eagerness to get rid of Rushworth before we've seen him play, when he's so highly rated.

I don’t want to get rid of him, just answering Oranges question about whether the funds could be better spent elsewhere. Which in my opinion, they could be. He’s a very good keeper and much better passer but we need attacking options more, if we can keep him while getting rid of the majority of the crap we have to bring in better players then that’s the best scenario. I’ve no idea how much money he is on.

Still not sure what Selles' preference is though. I think Walter would've been big on Rushworth, as would Rosenior. But Selles theoretically might not be as bothered about passing range.

Longman Would have gone on loan if he wasn’t injured
Others would have too but again as it was a clusterfuck and signing so late on in the window no time to work on outgoings
