I’ve said this before but if I was Acun I’d f*** off right now based on the negative drivel spouted in here in the middle of what looks to be a cracking transfer window .
Every owner if every club employs **** managers at some time look at Man Utd , Liverpool , Everton , Spurs etc. what makes some of you think City’s owner should be perfect at choosing the ‘right guy’ . For whatever reason last summer was a mess and I’m pretty sure he knows it , but if Belloumi and Millar were still fit we might be half way or so and reasonably happy I think .
Do those criticising actually ever choose new people yourselves ? If so you’ve either got the Midas touch and the perfect workforce , you work for yourself only , or are responsible for no one.
I don’t think Acun is going to go anywhere for a while.
His appointment of Selles looks an astute one, in fact, if he’d gone for Selles instead of Walter I think the majority of fans would have forgiven him for his Rosenior mis-step.
The situation with Tan, as unfortunate as it was, has thrown Jared Dublin into a more senior role, and he, like Selles, looks to be the perfect appointment.
We can look at the 62 signings made in 3 years and rightly call it out for being excessive. We can correctly point to the short term-ism of last years approach of filling our team with loans, who upon their return left us decimated. There are also huge financial mistakes we can point at when looking at the likes of Giles and Sinik in particular.
However, you can also point to lessons learnt. Our loans this season are sprinkling a bit of stardust over a very solid foundation.
Alzate, Hughes, Puerta, Pedro, Crooks, Millar and Belloumi look like great bits of business. The jury is still out but the signings of Joseph, Kamara, Burstow, Zambrano and Drameh, but could yet turn out to be solid signings and I think Matazo could be the best yet (unless Louis Barry continues his rise with us for 18 months (hopefully)).
That’s a lot of hits, yet people will still point at Sinik, Giles, Bedia and Racioppi to highlight how bad recruitment has been.
I think if we were sat now at the start of a season we would all be excited about a promotion push, as it is, we have a table to climb. Acun will feel the same way and won’t be tempted to cash in his chips, just because some loonies on a forum think he is a bit insecure.
