I am fully expecting if my treatment continues to have to pay. If it's a choice between that and the condition becoming worse I will have to. If it is a matter of thousands of pounds, up to say low tens then I could afford to pay. Those who can't will be left to deteriorate and ultimately die early. That's the choice you made in May

CT I ask out of genuine interest as (thankfully) I don't closely know anyone who has been in your situation but why would you have to pay to continue with cancer treatment via the NHS? I honestly don't know of anyone who has had to pay for chemo or rad treatment or indeed any drugs taken to support the treatment. I don't know of anyone who has had to pay for a cancer related operation.. Is treatment now a post code lottery - get it in Norwich but if you live in Kings Lynn you'll have to pay? I am not trying to make any form of point, I'd just like some clarification as to what the situation is.
It's a matter of time, which is often crucial. You can wait for the NHS to send for you, and maybe be too late, or pay and jump the queue. Had I gone private after my high PSA reading I would probably have reached the point that I am at now in one month rather than nine. So people with money will queue jump, which, if enough do it will solve the cost problem for Dave. It is now a two tier system effectively.
And incidentally you probably do know someone in my situation. It is estimated that 50% of men over 60 have some degree of prostate cancer. Much of it is relatively harmless, a small number will be killed by it. Diagnosis is not straightforward and involves a lot of guesswork.

Today's shambles is exactly what I feared. Making a decision, then changing it, giving the Tory media yet another stick to beat them with. Absolutely clueless.

I think you will find that it's more about Gove than Corbyn. Gove has lost his marbles and gone all Godly. Also he really hates Muslims so kicking the Saudis is a bit of light entertainment. Not that they don't deserve it.
What CT - don't you think that a year in prison plus 350 lashes is a reasonable punishment for a first offence of being caught with a case of home brew?
I can understand the year in prison even though I consider it harsh for a first offence as it is the equivalent of a Saudi living over here and being caught in possession of some class A drugs and as the chap had lived there for 20+ years he can't really claim not to know the laws but 350 lashes regardless of his age and health is probably a death sentence if they are all carried out in one session.
The fact that the Saudis are supposedly about to crucify someone for thought-crime is however, appalling. There is another chap about to be beheaded for daring to offer online political debate. I wonder how many of us would be in serious trouble on this thread alone had we lived under Saudi law?
Good job we don't sell them tons of high tech weaponry or rely on their assistance in dampening down Islamic extremism in the region eh?

Michael Gove is a particularly dirty word amongst lawyers. He is truly despicable.
But the fact is it was brought up by Corbyn first as far as I am aware.
Corbyn first brought it up two weeks ago at the party conference. Gove actually tried to cancel it when he took on the job as justice secretary but was over ruled by the home and foreign offices.
It's sounds like it's been an ongoing internal battle. The reason it can to a head this week is that the contracts were due to be signed tomorrow I think.
Corbyn did shine a light on it publicly and that public opinion may have been the thing that pushed the final decision.
Jezza's main target now appears to be his own foot. I fully support the aims of CND, I always have done. The idea that the Russians will be wading ashore at Caister unless we have a nuclear deterrent is risible. But the mere fact that it is ludicrous doesn't prevent half the population from believing it. Time and time again it has been proven that unilateralism is a vote loser. JC seems set on an ideological campaign to get rid of all the faint hearts. He is going to end up with less than 20% of the vote.
While I agree with you largely CT, I doubt he would go that low, perhaps 25% maybe. the thing that has annoyed me most so far, apart from the Shadow Chancellor acting like a tool, is JC's indifference to the European vote. That is something we have to support otherwise the alternative outcome is unthinkable.
Not necessarily. I think the government would fall on their sword rather than implement the result. The ructions in the Tory party would make JC and Labour look like a vicarage tea party.
Good man, every vote counts the sooner we lose the shackles of Germany the better. Unfortunately too many youngsters have had their brains washed (my daughter included), and I fear my country will be swallowed up into the European Superstate. We're all going to hell in a handcart and it breaks my heart .
