Bolton lacked the quality to win at home, made silly mistakes and paid the price against a much better team. Sometimes its silly saying it was close when it was actually a 1-4 loss at home. There was a gulf betwee the teams tonight. That gulf is also represented in the league positions by a 31 point gap. We have to be as confident and clinical in front of goal as Spurs were tonight.
Fortunately we will play our game with Norwich before the rest of the pack play their games. No pressure.
We have just as easy games as Tottenham. Everyone knew Stoke away would be the hardest of the three. We fought well that game even if the draw was disappointing. Last 2 we should win comfortably. On the other hand Spurs don't have an easy game with Villa, likely to draw, and Newcastle will drop points vs city.
That's a good thing. Hopefully win and get our game out of the way, then Newcastle and Spurs know that they need to more or less win or 3rd is ours.
That really is the goal of the season. Unreal.
Thats one good thing about this weekend - its possible we are celebrating St Totteringhams Day this Sunday. We do need to beat Norwich though, and I think the 'easy win' comments are naive at best. I would take us as slight (but only slight) favourites.
I think their game with Fulham will be harder. Fulham are a solid team too. Both Villa and Fulham offer the possibility of them dropping points, but we can't worry about that. We need to do the business this time ourselves and I am confident we will do...
Would not go that far. Yes, it's not going to be a stroll but we are at home against a Norwich side that have nothing to play for. I mean they got thumped 3-0 by a **** Liverpool team at their own ground.
If we play as bad Spurs did on that day, then I would utterly shocked. Against the top six sides, Norwich have got 7 points out of a possible 33. When we played them way from home, I thought we really did cut through their midfield with relative ease at times. Just need to get Rosicky on the ball, because Norwich do not have a midfield anchor to speak of. He will be our main man on Saturday.
Cisse, since arriving at Newcastle has gone and played through the middle, which meant Demba Ba had to move to the left. Did we really need a central forward, when we arguably had the best in the world at that time?
You cant blame our management, because it takes ages to sign players generally, and as I mentioned he was not available. Its impossible to sign players that can help you in Jan.
Cisse would have been brilliant for us. The fact RVP has had to carry the entire team in terms of goals has been a problem recently. We did ok for a couple of games when he didnt score, but 2 goals in the last 6 from him has yeilded 8 points from 18 for us, at a crucial time of the season. Cisse has shown he can score from nothing and be the difference. take the Stoke game as an example - who did we have to bring on that could really turn the game? We had to rely on Chamakh! That was never going to work!
How many people on here called for the singing of Cisse in January? Sometimes, another club can simply put more work and effort into getting their man. Newcaslte did that with Cisse. Fair play to them. We tried to get Podolski at the same time but he wanted to move in the summer, because he feared that by moving it would harm his chance to start for Germany.
The point is that no-one had heard of him, which is what a few were saying in January... there are players that can make a real difference that we, not being scouts, have never heard of. The argument then, seemed to be, if you cant name the players they dont exist. Cisse is absolute and final proof that that was rubbish.
