Oh boy. If we signed every player that scored the occasional wonder goal, we would have a squad of 500 after 2 years. Why do people always react like this after a player has a decent game? We weren't all screaming about him last week or the week before.

We can't get everyone that turns out to be good. Newcastle spotted their man and no doubt put in hours and hours of hard work. And they got him. The reaction of our fans getting on Cisse would have been interesting. Paying £10 Million for a CF, who then would go and play for his country for a month and a bit. Remember at the time, the main worry was about the defence.

You must be using the same crystal ball as Wenger then <laugh>

  5. Thats irrelevant though - you cant deny that there was indeed a player out there that was available, was signed, and has made a huge difference. There will be many others too - players we have never heard of, but good scouts coupled with a sound plan in January can make happen.

  6. No crystal ball needed. I said in January that players were available. Cisse is proof of that as I have pointed out. Hopefully the myth of top players not being available has been put to bed.

    My crystal ball prediction . . . .......

Jayram will pick out a player who's having a good season and criticise us for not buying him

Wait a minute, that came true......

Jayram, you should use the same crystal ball that me and Pardew are using mate. <ok>

Sorry, but if you follow other European top leagues you don't have to be a top scout to have heard about Cisse.
He has been great for Freiburg for 18 months before moving to Newcastle. Last season he just finished one(?) goal behind Mario Gomez in the goalscoring ranking, without the likes of Robben, Muller, Ribery, Kroos etc. around him, but at one of the smallest sides in the Bundesliga.

Fair play to Newcastle, fantastic signing.

How is it irrelevant? Newcastle simply targeted their man and got him. Simple. Our scouts can't get the better of everyone. Even, then how would he have fitted in at Arsenal and our system? Van Persie is our CF, so is Cisse a player that always plays thorough the middle going to shifted out wide? Or was Van Persie going to move despite being utterly world class in his role?

Why did Chelsea not get him?
Why did Barcelona not get him?
Why did Liverpool not get him?

    The answer, Newcastle beat everyone.

  12. Its irrelevant because we were told by some <whistle> that NO ONE was available that was good enough for our squad, which was given as the reason for inactivity.

Cisse has put that argument to bed.

If we make any more signings this summer, can one of them be Graham Carr?

How do you know he was available to us? Maybe, just maybe, Newcaslte made it clear that they were interested in him for ages and therefore a step ahead of everyone.

Jayram doesn't care about any of that . . .. he's only interested in bashing Wenger for not signing him.

From what i gather, the Cisse signing caught the Toon by suprise too, they weren't linked to him, nobody had mentioned it, and then, BAM, they sign him. Another Carr gem.
