Damn - We should have dropped RVP and signed this guy.

<laugh>. How about having 2 good strikers? Poor logic to suggest that you have to get rid of our only capable striker to bring another on in

As it is we need Chamakh or Park to come on to change a games like those against Stoke, Chelsea, Wigan...

And as has already been said, I don't have a scouting network around the world and neither do I watch much football outside of Arsenal games.

But I am not naive enough to claim that something cannot be the case when I don't know f'all about it <ok>

Cisse proves the point so wonderfully, unless you follow the Bundesliga you probably would never have heard of Cisse, but players like him exist and next season there will be others. Nothing to do with hindsight. So when Wenger picks up a player few know about hindsight doesn't play a part but when Wenger doesn't hindsight does play a part <doh>

I'm not knocking the purchase of Gervinho, just saying that the argument that decent players are not available in the winter is rubbish.

Exactly. That is the point. There are plenty of top players available that could improve us - always have been, always will be. Excuses for not fixing an obvious problem in the transfer window are hollow. We should have strengthened in January.

I do think Wenger has finally woken up though. We seem to be eager to do business now and do it early.

I think my exact words were that it's notoriously difficult to bring in players in the January window, not that there isn't one who might be available.

Still, I didn't see anyone even mention Cisse's name in January. So it's a bit hollow now to suggest that we should have bought him.

Not true - you put out a challenge to those saying we needed to bring in support in January. Your challenge was 'name the players'. The response you got, rightly, was that there were players who could help us that we hadnt heard of (as we were not scouts). No one would have or likely could have mentioned Cisse, but he is living proof that players do exist of real quality that we on this forum simply do not know of.

As a club we need to work harder at making sure we are covered in areas of weakness.

and tired of you making childish responses to fair points. Dropping RVP indeed. Are you trying to take over my Victor Meldrew position?
<laugh>

Heaven forbid my friend !!!! :emoticon-0140-rofl:

I see though there is a small majority, a very small one at that, suggesting that the name of Cisse was not mentioned before. Well not here perhaps since we are not talent scouts but considering he has been amongst the top two scorers in the Bundesliga for a couple of seasons ( according to a news interview ) then I would have thought our scouts would have noticed this or perhaps some other characters in their office suites said No or should that be Non.

For anyone to say there are not better players that are better than those we have and indeed that there are those who believe this really defies belief. Still we are where we are and after hopefully two wins on the trot we will get down to the business of building early for success in the coming season. The club, it's history and it's supporters are due that.

This is the world of Toledo - extremes and poor logic when faced with valid arguments or points being made. His logic is lacking so much so I think "he" may be a "she", no offence to all you logical women out there <laugh>

It is like trying to debate a point with a three year old. Cisse is not a vast amount beter than Bendtner, Chamakh or Park. Everyone has this idea that the scale of players ability is soooo big and there is a gulf in class between players. It simply isn't the case, or Wigan would never be able to win a game against us, or Manchester United. There are only a very few players that are signicantly better than the average player in the premiership and talking abut Cisse as if he is on that elevated level with RVP, Ronaldo and Messi is as stupid as a bag of nuts.

Once you get past those few players that really elevate a team and all those around them, the rest are seperated by form, luck and how they fit into your system. The difference between Cisse and Bendtner in terms of ability, if there is any, could be out-weighed by whether the player playing alongside them is left or right-footed, or the usual state of their home pitch. Has anyone given any thought on how similar Cisse and Ba are in terms of style, and how different they are to any of our forwards, in terms of style?

I am sure you feel superior, saying that Cisse was an "obvious choice", and you think you are smarter because you think you are able to detect a flaw in a manager that has been managing at the top level for over 25 years. As I keep pointing out to you, the truth is that you don't have the knowledge of the game to even understand the framework of the decision, and every time you post you just show that.

As I have said before, I am reallly tired of trying to explain things to you and simply getting personal abuse back. Go ahead and insult me, it really makes no difference. I have tried to help you understand. If you want to carry on believing that you are all football geniuses and Wenger, his coaches and scouts are all fools, then have at it.

It seems obvious to me that the reverse is far more likely, but just have it your own way.

Dude apart from your "chums" everyone else thinks you are a laughing stock, you post mostly nonsense and your post above is no different.

<laugh>

You really are a barrel of laughs, serious comedic genius. I've never, in all the time I have seen Bendtner, seen him score a goal even slightly close to any of Cisse's this season. I have never at any stage in his career seen him score the volume of goals to that of Cisse. I have never seen Chamakh look half as good as Cisse and nobody has even seen Park play so how would you or we know how good he is <laugh>

If I was a comic I would say .. "the sh!t just writes itself sometimes" where you are concerned

The only reason this post of yours has any weight is if your opinion of the player is correct. Let's take Torres for example. Do you honestly accept the explaination that he became a lousy player when he went to Chelsea and has now suddenly become a good player again, or is it more likely that something a little more complex is going on?

Please stop insulting me every post.

With the three teams below us all playing tonight, 3rd to 6th could look pretty tight by the end of the evening. Obviously we want the Spuds to lose at Bolton, but who would you prefer took the points in the Chelsea v Newcastle game ?

Personally, as much as I'd like to see Newcastle win, I'd rather Chelsea finished in the top 4, so that should they win the CL, all four top placed teams secure a place in the CL next season.

I think Chelsea will win 2-0 at home tonight and I think Bolton will beat Spurs 2-1

If this scenario occurs then the table will look like this, with two games to go

3. Arsenal.....24gd.....66pts
4. Chelsea....25gd.....64pts
5. Spuds......19gd.....62pts
6. Toon.........5 gd.....62 pts

totally wrong!
