Been a member on here since sept 2019, but only just seen this thread, so thought an introduction was in order.
Ex Washington (50 years....lambton, ayton, oxclose), and I have lived in Crookhall (Consett) for the past 5 years.
I was on rtg for a couple of years before I joined here (basically followed over during the FFP takeover thread), but didn't really post much.
I finding this place much more reasoned, and anyone being a dick is dealt with pretty quickly, which is good to see. I guess that there are just more adults on here!!

Born darn sarf. Grew up in Herrington then Carrville. Spent the vast majority of my life away from the NE, lived in the south east, south west, the cotswolds, East Midlands and since 2007 Australia.

... born near Leadgate, shipped to the East Midlands around 8 years old and supported Sunderland all my life. Tried having a career and didn't like it so have since blundered around the South of France, various bits of the UK and a year in West Wales. Currently near Carcassonne, since January, and feeling quite isolated.

cant remember if i posted in here when i arrived...

just in case, houghton born and bred...been here all my life and was lucky enough to get into safc in 72/73, some lads from school were heading off to the match and asked if i wanted to tag along...honestly thought parents would say no.

night game it was and we drew (one of the sheffields iirc) but to be honest, once i walked out at the back of the Roker End and saw that stadium lit up off the lights and the green, green grass...i was hooked, the game meant nowt to me.

migrated with most when the takeover came about (or rather, did not) and liked it...was samswise over the road and many moons ago was YIDGTRP but got banned at one point, none of the admins could tell me why or how it had even happened but nowt they could do, so created the new persona, informed them of who i was before and got a PM saying 'the big bad racist is back then' (ty SBC) now i cannot remember posting anything racist but we all know how sensitive some are these day so who knows...although i did have a few 'discussions' with Leicester Mackem over his obsession with calling everyone else a racist so maybe that was it.

then all that point scoring/get yer mates to back you up/bullying/clicks thing just got worse and worse and i noticed certain ones would more or less copy someones post and get many likes but the original idea/post got none and strangely enough it seemed to be the same ones liking all these type posts...even if an OP got a few likes, i saw many that would then create a new thread using someone elses 'subject matter' followed by the instant likes...

 

My dad originally from Houghton. Born in Outram Street in '22 but family moved darn sarf '39. Good forum this mate, I joined about same time as you. Still occasionally post over there but avoid getting involved with all the idiots
