Diego Llorente has been sent back to Leeds for treatment and why he wasnt playing last night in the Ukraine. He pulled a groin muscle in a Spanish training session on Friday and didnt travel with the squad.

Story doing the rounds? Radz is going to buy out Peter Lim’s 82% ownership of Valencia?

Potential huge story on BBC Sports website whereby a proposal to reduce team numbers from 20 to 18 in the Prem and stop parachute payments. I suggest you all click on and have a read because we all know something has got to give in football and this proposal means handing cash to the EFL to support it

It lookls to be a brilliant plan.

20 team in the EPL is too many. Cutting it to 18 shortens the EPL season by a month (4 games), scrapping the Community Shield is a good idea to axe a meaningless game and scrapping the EFL/League Cup is way long over due

Ordinarily the Football League would never surrender that much power and influence but this COVID-19 pandemic has made football desperate and they will probably be forced to go along with the plan by their accountants - if for nothing else by sheer financial necessity

If it goes ahead, then at least one good thing will come out of this pandemic.

Rather concerned where these proposals came from Scum and Victim Pool sounds like the money men protecting their own assets without it costing them anything also concerned about the proposed voting power of the Top End clubs
Why are they proposing 100 mil to the useless FA
Or am I just being my usual cynical self

I don’t want less premier league games. I love the football and struggle through the close season as it is.

So they want to bridge the gap between the PL and FL by reducing the number of clubs able to play in the PL? Hmmm.

How about 2 x 16 team divisions and the money shared out equally amongst all those clubs with a big chunk sent down the pyramid with the extra income from games.

This proposal just shows how important its going to be to stay in this league and it would be so Leeds to get relegated and not get the parachute payments that everyone else got for all those years.......

We must consolidate now, we must get a few players lined up for January just in case we need to cover the odd position to make sure we stay up. Not saying we have to buy but if we get injuries (Llorente already out) we need to cover them...

Wales are a crap team and probably because they have a crap manager. Dan James subbed off so lets hope that can be the end of Leeds and James talk. A certain Leeds player still on the bench 0-0 with 5mins to go against Ireland who have had that idiotic animal James Maclane sent off

The proposal won't go through. It gives the power to the top 6 clubs.

Why wouldn't wealthy institutions seek to protect themselves

It is to be earnestly hoped that the EPL does exactly that. The EPL has been a huge success over the last 30 years - remember hoe hard we fought to re-join it ?
We absolutely WANT the EPL to be protected. We WANT English football to thrive and, IO, it cannot do without a successful top tier.

Why do you call the FA "useless" - it administers to most popular sport in the world, nationally through England.

Could the FA be better ? Sure
Could we do without it ? Absolutely not.

Then would you be in favor of expanding the EPL to 22 teams like in the old First Division, or maybe 24 teams like in the Championship today ?

The EPL is so good because it concentrates the quality into fewer teams. Less is more so to speak.

The EPL represents a footballing elite
I absolutely don't want to dilute it down again into the dross served up by the old First Division in the 70's and 80's which you probably don't remember

Creating a football elite and concentrating the quality/talent was one time we got it right

If you love two games a week, pick an EFL team to follow. Leeds are finally out of that cr@p now, and I for one, don't want to jump back into it.

We would we want to "reduce the gap" ?

To me that sounds like dumbing down EPL quality to the EFL standard.

A 16 team top tier is not the worst idea in the world, with a 20 team championship below it. Below that, three regional (North, Midlands and South) divisions of 20-24 teams.

Wales are a cr@p team because they have so few quality players

It's what you get when a country like the UK is forced to produce 5 (including the RoI) national teams - the talent is spread too thin

Football in the UK would enjoy more international success if it focused the talent in one team - like every other country in the world does.

The membership of the "top six" is open to change

In the 1980's it included Everton and Manchester City were on their way to the third division.
