Morning, all. Am waving the old ‘no bet’ banner this morn but its quite a nice days action with Listed heats at both Sandown Park and Great Yarmouth. The best horse on display though today may be Montridge in the Conditions contest at the Esher venue (3.25) however at odds of 4/6 I won’t be getting involved.
Talking of that Yarmouth Listed heat (3.15) I see that Firdaws, who this time last year was rumoured to be the reincarnation of Pegasus, is available at 18/1. If you would have suggested such a possibility 12 months ago you probably would have been Sectioned as there was talk of Classic glory for the filly who’s dam and granddam both the Oaks (and the granddam the 1,000 as well). It looks though that Firdaws simply hasn’t trained on.
Anyone got any thoughts on Saturday’s big sprint handicaps at Ayr by the way??? The Gold, Silver and Bronze events that really matter this summer. As I said last week Cheveton’s the one that I’m keen on. He won the ‘Bronze Cup’ in 2010, the ‘Silver Cup’ in ’11 and is now on a lower mark than in both of these races. Plus, his last 4 wins have been in the month of September and he showed a nice return to form in old Wales on Sunday. Interesting with a capital 'I', methinks.
