I read this as 'Fiorentina can see SAFC are very keen and as such are doing what any club would do and trying to drive up the price'. Sunderland respond with 'renewed interest in Rose' and when all's said and done we are in the same position we were 48 hours ago.
Exactly, I'd meet them half way with a fresh bid and put a below asking price bid in for Rose as well and make it public.
Making a bid for rose would show 'Viola' that we are also looking at other targets and would make them anxious Not sure why but in terms of transfer business we seem to be severely behind every other club
We are moving on but appears that we (Sunderland) have placed all of our eggs in one basket. Like what Kevin's Ear stated a plan C anyone??? But still have a long way to go yet. . .
The mags have a blueprint for signings which seems to work okay: buy inexpensively from the continent. Players want to come to the PL for the wages (& low tax compared to some countries) so if Fiorentina play silly buggers let Alonso stay there. It'll cost him money, which won't make for a happy bunny and we can look somewhere else. Rather have Alonso as he knows the club and vice versa, but why are we not playing the game properly, like every other club (bar Hull) seems to be??
To be honest our transfer policy seems to work well, Cabaye and Debuchy being topical examples. The English transfer marker is crazy at the moment. McCormack, Snodgrass? Crazy I tells tha. We'll never win owt though selling our best players. Haven't done for 60 years apparently.
Not sure how you can know that though. No-one knows what is happening behind the scenes at the club and who we're negotiating with and the like - we're all assuming there is no-one but these because the press aren't spouting anything about any other players. In reality, all we know is that we've bid for Alonso and Borini - only people who know different are COngerton and the others at the club
Does that mean 3m + Diakite's value is short of the asking price, or 3m is short of the asking price (so we've basically valued Diakite at 1m?) Either way it's a bit of a pisstake imo, they got the lad on a free, played him three times in the league, and are now expecting a deal worth 5m+ for him?!? Why is it every club seems to be able to make these ridiculous demands except us? I swear whenever I look at any deal including we pay well over the odds and get much less than a players value when elling (the only exception being Hendo which I thought was a botu fair). Other clubs, you look at a deal and think "yeah seems about fair", but never us!
It's like Ground Hog day on here again...In my opinion it is the negativity of the supporters that is a major part of our problems...Just support what's on the pitch as they are a decent side in the making given a chance..
They want 4m euros + Diakite. As we got Diakite for nowt and his wages won't be more than 20k pw so i'll go with that figure, and he signed a three year contract with a year of it expired that would put his value on the books at about 2m top end unless he earns more than 20kpw which I doubt. so that would put Diakite's value at about 2.5m euros that means they want 6.5m euros for Alonso which is just over 5m pounds. He was in the top three performing left backs in the league last season, that's what will have raised his value, They've doubled their price basically. But he was better than Luke Shaw in most areas and he cost god knows how much. I think he's worth 5m myself but I think we can get the deal down to a million less. I'm hoping they'll accept this bid.
You never miss the chance to have a laugh at Sunderland do you? Laughing at us losing or 'being relegated' last season and skulking away when we didn't
You have to laugh because if you didn't then you would cry. We was lucky to stay up last season & we are weaker now so I very much doubt people are looking forward to the season. Skulking away I rather work, go to the gym & have a life sorry.
Strange tbh ...... although it's great being near the lads and grandkids plus I can get to more games.
