You can want someone to succeed and still call a spade a spade Chazz. Last night was awful. Everyone wants the club to be in the PL but pretending we're getting there playing like we did last night is nutty.
Do you really think the tactic is to work it back to the deepest player to lose possession? No you don’t, you’re being difficult on purpose. The players are there so if it comes back they can re work it either crossing it in or creating something new. Just because there was an individual error it doesn’t mean the whole concept is bad and should be changed. They just need to cut out errors and work on the tactic more.
Yes I genuinely do and I'm not being difficult on purpose. When we've done it game after game then it's clearly a 'retain possesion' mentality first and a 'whip it into the box' mentality second. Yes it does mean the whole concept is bad. Short corners are ****ing dumb if the player you play the short corner to doesn't immediately whip it in. The whole point of a short corner is to change the angle of the ball into the box to one that the opposition isn't expecting. Not to play it around the edge of the box like a bunch of fannies because you have no idea what to do.
Again do you really think the instruction from Walter is to play it around the edge of the box not knowing what to do? There is clearly an instruction that they’re not listening to or unable to right now. Hopefully with more time things change. Regardless of this, only around 2% of corners lead to a goal so it’s not like we’re missing out on guaranteed goals but we definitely shouldn’t be conceding from them.
How about we give someone longer than 5 minutes to get things right. This has to be a transitional season, where we build a team. Chopping & changing managers is a recipe for disaster! Are we going to be the next Watford? 3 managers a year? The whole build up to this season was wrong, it started with sacking Rosie, taking an age to get a replacement. What was the point of the Turkey trip if we’re going to bring in a whole new team AFTER the season’s already started? Then 2 games with numerous new players & people are screaming, “ he doesn’t know his best team.” No **** he doesn’t! Sometimes I think people forget that we aren’t Man Utd, Liverpool or Man City, they seem to think because Acun says he wants this & that, then, this & that will actually happen! The way we’ve prepared for this season, is already showing up as a write off, but sacking Walter now is absolutely ridiculous!
We are. I generally dont comment too much about players, formations, managers etc. as primarily my basic knowledge is three decades out of date and also dont watch that much anymore, but from the last few games, the issues and changes have been obvious. Walther may or may not be a successful manager, too early to tell, but the revolution is looking chaotic and the ten to twenty games he'll manage before either keeping his job or losing it, will be a season lost and then another for a new manager to sort it out... Strange policy for an impatient owner wanting results now.
This is probably the bigger issue. The owner knows where he wants to get to but he doesn't have a clue how to get there and those working for him don't either. We've had 3 summer windows now and 3 vastly different recruitment policies. 90% of fans watching Championship football regularly could tell you the major issues with the 1st 2 summers (2022 was buying heavily from Turkey and 2023 was a huge reliance on loans for key players). But nobody at the club seemed to worry or think about that.
Preston have just equalised at Middlesbro, so we're currently in the bottom Three.... Get used to it...I've got a feeling we'll be there for a while.
Ye, everyone's different and I can understand both sides of the argument. Whilst they're employees of the club, I try not to criticise unless they're stealing a wage, but the hiring process was an odd one - plenty of young British managers (like Oxford's) who would cost less and be open to playing a different, 'more exciting' style whilst maintaining the basics needed in the Championship.
**** me, it's glum on here. I'm not sold on Tim, but to suggest he should be sacked after the first game since the window shut is bonkers. He should be given until the next international break to sort it out. If we're not looking any convincing by then, Acun needs to pull the trigger. I'm generally pretty negative, but even I'm not really to play the clusterfuck card yet.
