It’s as must win as they come for a manager in Walter’s position. If we don’t I think it’ll be the tipping point for many.
Is it? Really? Why? Most seem to acknowledge the recruitment in summer was way too late And very scatter gun And are allowing Walter to bed the team in
Part of me likes the faith he shows in Bedia. Too often I think, managers chop and change and don't give anyone a chance to prove themselves. There is an element of clarity and rationality to it which I like. On the other hand, Burstow must be banging his door down. But then you'd think if he was showing enough, he'd be the one Tim was putting faith in. I think in time he'll get his chance, and Tim will probably be working on improving him for the long term in training.
Because we’ve only won one game at home under Walter and this one is against the team at the bottom of the league. Im not at all saying he needs to win this or he should be sacked but realistically if we don’t win this game more people will start to loudly question what is going on. This is the game where we should be looking to show what we’re about - we haven’t had an easier game all season. Let’s see it.
I would’ve liked to see more progress by now I can’t deny but at the same time these things can click suddenly. Norwich on the 27th October last year were 14th. They finished 6th. They had a decent overhaul. Coventry on the same date were 20th and finished 9th. They had a similar summer to us after selling Hamer and Gyokeres 27th October 2022 both Boro and Cov were 21st and 22nd respectively and played each other in a playoff semi that year. Granted Boro’s rise was after sacking Wilder so there’s certainly that argument. Some teams are late bloomers. As we are a team filled with young potential talent I imagine it may suddenly just click for us. It may not but an element of patience is needed whilst performances aren’t overall bad
Puerta is only just starting now I’d say more Can’t keep saying it syd but how many of the team who played yesterday had a full preseason with us? It’s not an excuse it’s a fact And tbh we aren’t doing too bad not brilliant but did anyone really think we’d be too three or top six? We’re ticking over The potential is clearly there We might we might not really push on More likely a season of win a few lose a few
Bedia signed 22 August Belloumi signed 30 August Kamara 30 August Puerta 27 August all our attacking players All new As plt says maybe he’s trying to get Bedia a run so the other lads get to know him and what he does And he has to find what they do too far easier to slot a centre back into a team Than a forward player
Hard to judge on burstow so not really including him in this when I say it. But, I would also say Bedia is probably out best striker. We lost a lot of his athleticism when Pedro came on
We’re not demonstrably worse than under Rosenior with a much worse squad. The main difference being we’re more exposed from our own corners. The team seem to have the same togetherness as last season. Give the guy time.
I can’t help but like Bedia. Gets about, bundles defenders over, holds it up - I swear there’s a brilliant target man in him.
Yeah - turns out premier league quality players dont need as long to click as risks and bargain basement signings.
Bargain basement? Belloumi cost us almost as much as Philogene. Philogene wasn't pl quality when he signed for us or a PL club would have signed him.
