I know, it was an example.. Belloumi's shot on the weekend, Mehlem's header, these are players throwing the ball on their boot (Coyle for Mehlem) and hoping for the best, not us working the ball through the thirds and putting opposition under sustained pressure. If you seriously think we're going to see numerous situations like Coyle v Plymouth then.. I dunno what to say.
Anything good we do is a fluke and not down to the manager. Time to put the keyboard away when you reach that position.
I had that thrown back at me (and others) when my (our) opinion was that Rosenior didn't have a clue in coaching attacking football!! Funny, it's now being thrown again ... but the other way round!!
1904 podcast. Baz: I believe there's unrest amongst the players, they aren't happy Burnsy: Have you heard comments from the players themselves? Baz: err, umm, no Burnsy: OK, have you heard anything 'off the record' from players or anyone at the club then Baz: err, umm, but they've been absymal at home for around 5 seasons now, the fans aren't happy, the only time they've been good at home is during covid when fans weren't there and I don't think it's a co-incidence. WTF have I just heard!! I usually stand up for Baz, HDM etc, or at least don't knock them for the fun of it, but come on! There has to be an agenda now at play.
Baz sees the players and staff a lot more than anyone on here, so maybe he's picked up on body language and other things and just has a gut feeling? He's entirely within his rights to speculate. Could also be someone has mentioned something off the record and he doesn't want to start any rumours or get them into any trouble?
The performances in the COVID season were better because we were in League One with a group of players who were lower Championship standard. It had little to do with crowds not being there.
Not sure he was suggesting they were unhappy previously. I 'read' it as him being totally wrong footed by Burnsy questionning his comments that the players are not happy with Walter. Fair play to Burnsy for the 2 questions (although I'd have loved him to have called him out further .... "so, you haven't actually been told or heard anything, you are just making **** up and stirring it for a laugh then" sort of thing). His answer (5 years of home form stuff) was actually nothing to do with what he was claiming about hte players, and seem to me that it was him trying painfully to waffle his way out of it after being called out. It just left me thinking there is an agenda going on here. The whole podcast was incredibly negative, although more measured 'intelligent' answers from KB.
Maybe. Although in that case it would have been very easy to answer Burnsy's questions. He didn't, it seemed to me that he tried to dig himself out of a big hole with unrelated nonsense. As a 'journalist' and influencer (in terms of contributing to supporter's opinions) you can't just come out with undermining, damaging stuff like that without making it credible. At the very least you would say something like "nobody has said anything, but it's just what I detect from ... ". That's so poor form from him lobbing a massive grenade like that and then deliberately taking the conversation away as soon as someone questions him.
We absolutely could see situations like Coyle where wide players drive forward in that manner. Should we be relying on finishes like that though, no chance
Well put, you beat me to it ''He's entirely within his rights to speculate'' - of course he is, and then keep it to himself; like you rightly say, he can't go lobbing grenades without a shred of evidence to back him up. It's a ****s trick.
I find that terribly disppointing to find out the Baz has no credible evidence to back up his assertions. Its just incredibly bad journalisim. I know its not being published but the gold standard for any journalist is two credible sources. He has gone down in my estimation we expect better. He is letting down his fellow journalists. Hope he reads this.
I've said it once and I'll say it again, he's sulking because tim popped him back in his box in that presser and is now letting his bruised ego influence his stirring....put the spoon down baz and grow up
One person posts his own notes of what Baz Cooper said three days ago on a podcast and then people run with it and get mad, seemingly without having listened themselves. This sort of thing happens a fair bit lately whether it's journalists or managers being quoted.
I hope we win tommorrow Just so we dont have another week of Conspiracy theories Cryptic clues Trying to read too much into everything again
If we win there'll be a "told you so" sort of backlash to all the negativity of the last week. If we lose the negativity will grow. Either way, it's not gonna be a peaceful week on here.
I really enjoy the 1904 podcast. But having just finished watching this week’s, I’m left to agree there has been a massive overreaction. I said before the games, Leeds and Sheff Utd should not be judged. We were never expected to win. The next 3 on the other hand (Stoke, Cardiff, QPR) are perfect to analyse as Tim Walter will have had more time and we are expecting to get something out of all three, including at least one win. We have had a bad start. We aren’t playing well. But that doesn’t mean it will continue when we play those teams around us! We might get 7 or 9 points from these yet! If we lose all three or play terribly/have little shots on target, then questions can rightly be asked. Not yet though. A lot of fans are jumping ahead and have got it in for Tim Walter already. I’m pretty sure the majority are the ones who disagreed with the Liam Rosenior sacking. Last time I’ll say it, I hope he proves them wrong.
There's not been an overreaction at all. Tim's been in post for 2.5 months now and had around 12 games in charge. I can't remember the last time we put in 12 consecutive performances as bad as this, but it's been woeful. We've not taken the lead in any of the games and haven't looked like winning either, to be frank, it's been pathetic. There's plenty of talk about give him time, but you'd expect to be seeing shoots of optimisim/hope/promise by now and we haven't. Yes the recruitment situation didn't help but he's got to be getting more out of those already here. Most this board were desperate for Oscar to be recalled, only for him to be **** a few weeks later.
