Refs have been ridiculously lenient since the return. A massive benefit to teams who want to tactically foul. Explains why there's been so few goals.

Milner's booking was mad. Then again, as was Digne's.

Disappointing first game back, but think prem as a whole has been like it.

is it because of the break? Is it because of no fans? Players apprehensive about covid? Who knows but definitely not been the thrill that we all hoped football returning would be.

Thought Keita looked sharp today. Was only one that was getting into forward positions, sinilar with matic a passing, really looked to feed it forward which was nice to see.

Minamino looked busy without doing an awful lot. Not suited to that wide role for us just yet though, likes to come short too much and doesn’t have the pace of mane or Salah to get in behind the defence.

Hopefully Salah is back mid week. For those that say they’d be happy to sell Salah and Mane is more important etc, think today helps prove that Salah is just as important as even on a bad day, he still poses a real goal threat unlike mane who needs to be playing well.

Sarcasm at its best
I think
You were being sarcastic weren’t you

Tbf I see where you are coming from but I also see why Everton would be happy with that result. It is definitely a way to beat us (said it loads on here) we have to find a way of breaking down teams that do that

I am more than a little bit worried about our form atm being honest
Was hoping the blip that was beginning for lockdown was going to have disappeared
But IF we don’t pick up a win against palace (who are playing very well and have been to city and won) then this massive gap we had is only going to get smaller and even the games which should be won will become tough
I do not want this to be dragged out anymore.

We will be fine, the derby has been a similar affair for a few years.

If teams play 10 behind the ball, anybody is going to struggle until the first goes in.

We must be the only team in history to be ****e in an attack when one of our fullbacks isn't playing. Thats some going that.

Minor point but our top goalscorer also wasn't playing

I think as well, and I'm honestly not being snide, but there's eight games left - Everton were on 37 points. If they indulged themselves and went toe-to-toe from now until the end of the season...

Well I think Norwich, and probably Villa, are down. It's not inconceivable the other four could raise that bar to 40 points again. Big point for Everton, when the odds were that they'd get nothing. They could have even got three, and ensured safety. That has to be Everton's first objective. And we'll play others in that position before the end of the season - if we want to set records and put a gloss on it, we can't expect anyone, let alone our local rivals, to play supporting rolls in our procession.

Tedious, but I'll say it again - our great teams of the past expected favours from nobody, let alone Everton at Goodison.
With 9 games to play before today’s game and 37 points on the board, sat in 12th with a set of fixtures that look far from daunting after the derby, we were never in any real danger of going down. Pretty sure I’m right in saying that since his arrival and until the point the season was curtailed, only you lot, United and City had earned more PL points than us, in the same period. His tactics today were similar to how he got Napoli to play when they beat you earlier in the season.

Ancelotti is an all time great manager and the set up stifled us. If we had Robbo and Salah, then it maybe different because they are two big attacking outlets for us. Not only that, they have great link up with those around them e.g Robbo and Mane, Salah and Trent.

I do think if we kept Keita and perhaps Taki on for longer, the breakthrough would have come but we must accept that we need to manage mins.

I'm surprised we didn't have another manager for us to bend over and let Liverpool play to their strengths!

With Gomes and Davies in MF against a three I expected a defeat, but was very well organised by Don Carlo. We were never in danger. I we had legs in midfield yesterday rather than a bloke coming back from a broken ankle we would have been much better.

I don't know why Lovren is still at Anfield. I don't like calling players out, but surely he's past his sell-by date now. As soon as he came on we lost the impetus and very nearly lost the bloody match! <doh>

I do think we could have won that, though. It was so cagey

When Lovren came on yesterday, Everton players started passing the ball in his direction. They were very cautious of doing this when Matip was there. Every one has now recognised Lovren as the week link especially after his blunders against Spurs at Wembley. We must be mad to keep him beyond this season.:bandit:.

I just don’t understand how Lovren has lasted at this club for so long. He was never good in the first place, and even his ‘top’ form is well below acceptable standards

Thankfully, he along with Clyne and Lallana will be off this summer and will free up valuable funds

Richarlison just stuck to Lovren as soon as he came on and rightly so. He's a complete liability

I'll be sorry to see Lallana go, but he's not quite hit the mark on occasion, either. It's a shame when that happens

You had a decent 10-15 minutes after HT and we were starting to look a bit ragged imo. Then he made subs that imo didn’t need making at that point and you went back to being predictable and quite ponderous. Then when Lovren came on, we sniffed blood.

Sniffed blood? We ran you a ****ing blood bath to soak in!!!

After all the ****e, I throughly enjoyed the match. It wasn't the game, it was a bit poor, but me and my boy went through our usual ritual, sat in our usual specs. Chatted **** about inconsequential things for two hours. It was a welcome relief from the last 3 months.

I'm also enjoying being back on here, talking ****e.

Probably why I've argued with twice as many people as I have in 20 minutes as I have in the last 4 years.

And I wasn't involved...:1980_boogie_down:

Not a bad first game back, even though I was beyond excited to see the lads back. Would have liked all the points obviously but at any stage in any season regardless of form, a draw is usually the expected outcome of this fixture. More importantly, are Everton players all living with hairdressers <laugh>
