With the pigs ear they seem to have made of the election procedure, if it's open until the votes are counted, this thread could end up running for weeks.

It's like a banana republic.
It is astonishingly **** isn’t it.
Mind you there were about a decade behind being able to accept credit cards without a paper signature, and have cheese in tubes so it’s to be expected.

Mind you ours is a bit **** too

I don’t know why any functioning democracy (EDIT - ah…hang on I might have just spotted why!) doesn’t have a default as an online vote through .gov.uk or their equivalent with your personal login with other options as needed for those without internet access. It would increase voting and also mean the actual physical count would be a piece of piss.

It isn’t the greatest system here when 20% of registered voters can give you an enormous majority.

The obvious, but flawed argument against that would be one of security. That a digital vote isn't secure. In reality nothing is ever truly 100% secure, but a digital login can be made very secure indeed, certainly no less than loose bits of paper. Hence it's good enough that we rely on it for things like banking, and indeed our entire economy.

Billions of dollars are traded online
But a digital vote is somehow not secure?
Silly indeed

It would be more secure than bits of paper. Though large sections of the population would be voting the way “community leaders” or their husbands say they should.

You are the one conflating to deflect from lefties defacing memorials by showing one person having a piss compared to large crowds of lefties defacing memorials and buildings.

Which memorial to those who died in service by those purporting to 'protect' it got defaced again, or are you banging on about that statue of a Victorian slave owner in Bristol again?

How about a card is sent to you at your registered address, you take this card, yourself, and a valid form of Id to a secure location. At this location a trustworthy person checks you, your card and id if all OK the card is exchanged for a ballot paper. Tick the appropriate box on the paper and place it in a locked box, after closing time the boxes are taken to another controlled place, opened and the votes counted.

The difference between you and I is that I would condemn both instances, rather than point the finger at what I perceived to be the opposite in an attempt to deflect and justify it.

Those awful right wingers at it again. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-67491394

You were the one bringing up other things, not me, to deflect. I would have smacked the twat you showed doing that. Though at my age I might have come off worse.

Disgraceful that the police said climbing on memorials is unfortunate but not illegal. Do that to monuments to the fallen in other countries and the police would batter them.

You should re read your contribution to this thread and you might realise what I've just illustrated.

Starting with your response to authoritarianism as being "communists are worse than Nazis" in relation to an election where there is no authoritarian left winger on the ballot.

Oh wait, no. You probably won't.

And I'll remind you that it was you who decided to defend pissed up EDL.pissing on memorials by pointing the finger at the left.

Truth is neither is desirable, or justifiable.
