You could be right, and if so it's probably not a bad play, considering there have been quotes from medical experts that Trump is displaying many signs of dementia.

I just don't understand how the American people can hear his rambling nonsense, punctuated with the occasional political word like economy, tariffs or immigration without any semblence of detail, and still think that he's the guy to lead them.

 

Because he's still seen as the anti establishment candidate by certain demographics.

 

They have been happy to have senile Biden leading them for 4 years.

 

Trump is not your usual politician, and doesn't grasp the nuance and the detail that most politicians tend to, instead firing out easily-digestible nuggets that the less-educated can get their teeth into, but I don't see how big businessman moving into politics could be perceived as even being close to anti-establishment.

I guess he's like Boris and Farage in that people connect with him, and "would like to have a beer with him". Not exactly a top leadership quality

 

I don't think many were thrilled to have Biden as president. They're just happy that it wasn't Trump.

Maybe. I recall a video that comedian Henning Wehn did talking about Brexit, but i can't seem to find it now. He was saying how if politicians were to talk about bi-lateral trade deals the general public would generally not understand, and probably glaze over, but when you can get something simple that everyone can understand, like "Brussels won't let us sell bananas that are a certain shape" or some ****, that's when you get a reaction. I guess it's kinda of similar.

I've not actually heard much from Harris, but the soundbites I have heard have made her out as pretty eloquent, and a significant step above both of the old gimmers that we've been dealing with these last few years, but regardless of her personally, I'd like to see the Dems get in solely due to the fact that the Republicans appear to be wanting to roll back the decades if the Project 2025 plan is anything to go by

 

As Trump himself has been attributed to saying. You can repeat whatever lie you want and if you say it enough, people will start believing you.

Farage is seen as anti establishment, although he's a public school educated, ex banker and signed up member of an elite gentleman's club.

But people just see him grinning, holding a pint with an easily digestible soundbyte and feel like he's one of them. Or at least some people in certain demographics do anyway.

Honestly, it isn’t even about sides for me.

If the Republicans had a serious candidate, somebody like Kitzinger, Romney or Kemp, I don’t think I’d be bothered which side won. Republicans can run a decent fiscal set up and be straight shooters with foreign and domestic policy without being religious nutjobs or populist sycophants and in that case, I’d be happy with a Republican candidate winning if that’s what the USA voted for.

But for the sake of reality and what I fear will be a pretty large economic impact on the U.K., and the fact he’s a ****ing bullshitting, rapist, friend of Epstein ****er, I hope this is the end of Trump.

When the bubble burst in the USA, the U.K. was hit pretty hard. If he ****s the American economy as hard as he is planning to, we don’t have the safety net of the EU or a half decent economy to fall back on this time.

 

If rambling, repeating herself, not answering the question but wandering off into totally meaningless, irrelevant waffle means eloquent then she surely is eloquent. A bit like meaningless verbiage like 24 hours to save our NHS gets a reaction. Or saying you want to abolish university fees in opposition the increasing them when you are in power or demanding the government keeps the WFA or thousands will die in opposition then stopping it for the vast majority when in power gets a reaction.

 

Nail on head, it’s the lesser of two evils. I actually get to vote here and to be honest am not enamored with either party.

You need a **** ton of money to go into politics but once in you seem to enrich yourself. Best thing they could do is make all members of congress put their investments in a blind trust. Both dems and republicans trade on material information not known to the general public. Both dems and republicans are in the pay of big lobbyists.

My vote came down to who scares the **** out of me the least not passion for one candidate or the other.
