..................just let those that want to discuss carry on without being looked at as ""Against the team""...thanks..
No one says you're against the team roofy, so loosen your bullets.
The worst we've played this season, Newcastle aside, has been against sides who have bullied us; Stoke, Sunderland, Southampton (regardless of 10 men we were poor). As I see it we've needed an alternative style of play for sometime, to combat this.
I see us this year trying to develop this style, a PLAN B, so we can stand up to physical teams. We still have the beautiful game, PLAN A, but we need a flip side to compete as, imo, teams have sussed us out.
Monks mission this season, imo, is to develop our game plan to include and combine a beautiful Plan A; a Swansea Way which can delight, enchant, score goals and win games, together with an ugly sister or PLAN B, an uncompromising, robustly defensive style utilised to save games and grind out points.
With further exposure this season we will be more adept at combining and flipping between the two styles when necessary. I admit, we're not quite there yet, but our 'new way' is exactly that, new.
This is what I think is being developed this year. it took Martinez by surprise and he was none to happy. But who cares what he thinks we took a point off him when he expected to take all three from us. This is what we have to do now, chop and change styles to confuse the opposition and ultimately maximise our points haul over the course of a season.
