Outside of your fantasy agenda roofy, lives a thing called reality

This is what reality looks like:

Swansea City - 6th in the premier league
    Swansea CIty - 2nd - clean sheets
    Swansea City - 2nd - Best save % Fabianski
Swansea City - 15 points, best start ever
Swansea City - 3rd best defence in Premier League
    Swansea City - 2nd - Assists - Gilfy Sigurson - 7
Swansea City - Currently above: MAN UTD, LIVERPOOL, EVERTON, TOTTENHAM etc etc.

Was just trying to give a 'worst' case example that's been stuck in my mind since that game!! Also, wasn't it about the same possession percentage stat agianst West Ham last season, roughly 70% at some stages & no attempt on target!! Think we could still be playing that game & not scored!! So again, possession can be misleading. But rather our players had it more than not, obviously!! Have to be careful though, that game was under Sir Mike after all... <laugh>

I and others were calling for useless laudrup to be sacked straight after rogers team won the league cup. you could plainly see he did not have what it takes and eventually we as usual were proved right. The players could not work with him in training as he showboated about how good he was in his day (and he was). the training sessions were a sham and that was when he turned up. the players were left twiddling their thumbs waiting . He was the most arogant manager we have ever had and i was so chuffed when jinx who gave him every opportunity he could possibly give any manager he sacked him. Laudrup would not comply and respect the club to turn up at meetings so jinx had no choice than to e-mail him that he was sacked, who knows maybe jinx would not have sacked the muppet if he had shown some respect and came to the meeting but he chose not to so jinx had to put the club first and bring someone in who actually loves the club...Enter monk who saved the club from certain relegation and our nightmare was over.....halleluyya

Yankee and last year we lost to man u at home on the opening day and this year on the opening day won 2-1 at theirs. I actually think on times this year we have looked pretty poor. However, on times we have looked superb. The stats roof has quoted are obviously correct but stats mean not a lot when it comes to football, its about the outcome of the game and how many points we get at the end of each of them. I couldn't give a ****e if we were bottom of all the stats as long as we are getting points on the board and as stumpy points out, 15 points at this stage is still our best start. Maybe after the next 10 we will have moved up the stats league but fallen down the PL.

Mate we do seem to be creating chances, just not taking them or maybe looking for one more pass. I think it was siggy through 1 on 1 against stoke and didnt commit to either going round the keeper or shooting, yet for iceland i am sure he would have stuck it away ( maybe less pressure). Sooner or later we are going to spank somone, I believe the goals will come.

I dont like comparing but after 10 games last season we had scored 13 goals and conceded 12. So its not like we are not doing anything out of the ordinary from other seasons.

Daiswan: "rogers team won the league cup"

Ki, Lamah, de Guzman, Hernandez, Michu

None signed under Rodgers as I recall. That's almost half the team that played that day.

the swansea way won the cup abet a league two side. we went down hill then and won just 5 games...who's fault is that ??? he had all the motivation skills of a dummy in a shop window he was bloody clueless and ruined what good football we were playing to his way that was so boring and poor that we dropped like a stone to just 2 points from the drop...now if that is the type of team you want then so be it but we would not be where we are now with his type of football i can assure you. And lets be honest here it was not just the football, he ruined the club with his ways that the players were complaining, the atmosphere was gone in the dressing room and that went on to the field of play that fans were leaving in droves before the match was finished....Im sorry that is not what i would call a good manager. his arrogance showed no bounds even after we sacked him saying he wanted £4m plus another £1m if we stayed up....did he get it did he bollox even when he threatened to take the club to court which he never did as he knew fully well he would be laughed out of court. we had a lucky escape there and we are well shot of the arrogant git.....

    I'm not comparing either,tlf.since it's all rather futile,and doesn't actually achieve,or prove,anything.

We need to convert more of the chances that are created.

I just thought these stats were troublesome and certainly worth discussing......wasnt looking for another world war.If your fine with this trend of play to our game fine , just let those that want to discuss carry on without being looked at as ""Against the team"" ...thanks..

No one says you're against the team roofy, so loosen your bullets.

The worst we've played this season, Newcastle aside, has been against sides who have bullied us; Stoke, Sunderland, Southampton (regardless of 10 men we were poor). As I see it we've needed an alternative style of play for sometime, to combat this.

I see us this year trying to develop this style, a PLAN B, so we can stand up to physical teams. We still have the beautiful game, PLAN A, but we need a flip side to compete as, imo, teams have sussed us out.

Monks mission this season, imo, is to develop our game plan to include and combine a beautiful Plan A; a Swansea Way which can delight, enchant, score goals and win games, together with an ugly sister or PLAN B, an uncompromising, robustly defensive style utilised to save games and grind out points.

With further exposure this season we will be more adept at combining and flipping between the two styles when necessary. I admit, we're not quite there yet, but our 'new way' is exactly that, new.

This is what I think is being developed this year. it took Martinez by surprise and he was none to happy. But who cares what he thinks we took a point off him when he expected to take all three from us. This is what we have to do now, chop and change styles to confuse the opposition and ultimately maximise our points haul over the course of a season.
